Che spettacolo! / What a show!

Ehi voi, ve lo dicevo che in silenzio accadono tante cose, come questa che casca a fagiolo in questo periodo estivo, quando ancora tanti non sono partiti, ma alla sera hanno voglia di un po’ di svago, anche all’aperto se possibile.
Mi è giunta, infatti, questa notizia strepitosa: a Milano c’è un locale, il primo in Italia, che da oggi è ad impatto zero…
Eh you, I’ve said that quietly many things happen, like this one that happens at the right moment, when many people aren’t still left, but in the evening they want to have fun, even to the open air, if possible.
In fact a great news came to my ears: in Milan there’s a nightclub which is zero environmental impact starting from today…

È il Circolo Magnolia di Segrate (MI)!!!
Ha da pochissimo festeggiato i suoi 4 anni di attività con l’inaugurazione di un magnifico impianto fotovoltaico che gli permette di produrre concerti ed eventi utilizzando energia pulita e abbattendo le emissioni di CO2!
It’s Magnolia Club in Segrate (MI)!!!
It has recently celebrated its 4 years of activity with the inauguration of a wonderful photovoltaic plant that gives the chance to produce gigs and events using green energy and avoiding CO2 emissions!

La direzione artistica di Magnolia ha creduto profondamente fin dall’inizio a questo progetto che rende concreto un gesto “per non buttare via quello che di buono abbiamo sulla Terra e che ci viene dal cielo”. Si è sempre avvicinata al pubblico con spettacoli “esplosivi” e costi abbordabili, ma con questa operazione Magnolia non avrà più bisogno di energia elettrica per produrre i propri eventi.
Since the start, the art direction of Magnolia deeply believed to this project that makes real a gesture “for not making waste with the goods of Earth and heaven”. It was always open to audience with ‘explosive’ shows and good prices, but with this operation Magnolia won’t need energy to produce its own events.

Tutto questo è già possibile grazie ai 100 pannelli fotovoltaici da 200 W l’uno, capaci di produrre in un anno 22.892 kW/h (nello schema riportato potete vedere i dettagli dell’impianto connesso alla rete di distribuzione nazionale).
L’investimento di 150.000 euro è stato reso possibile anche grazie al supporto della Provincia di Milano, che ha patrocinato l’operazione. L’opera è stata, inoltre, realizzata con i più affidabili sistemi di produzione e con criteri progettuali volti a garantire la massima resa disponibile, la sicurezza e il miglior impatto di inserimento ambientale.
This all is yet possible thanks to 100 photovoltaic panels of 200 W each, able to produce 22,892 kW/h in a year (in the scheme below you can see details for the plant connected to the national web).
The investment of 15,0000 euros was possible even thanks to the support of Province of Milan, who was the proponent. The work was, moreover, realized with the more trusted systems of production and with planning standards made to guarantee the maximum available rendering, safety and best environmental impact.


Si tratta con precisione di 102 moduli fotovoltaici con una potenza di 195 W l’uno, per un totale di 20 kWp, in grado di produrre dai 21.000 ai 24.000 kWh annui – come spiega Livio Visentin, Amministratore Delegato dell’azienda che ha realizzato l’impianto –.
Tali moduli consentono un’estrema stabilità di produzione di energia elettrica anche nel corso degli anni arrivando a produrre circa 390.000 kWh in venti anni e risparmiando così 265.000 kg di CO2 che altrimenti sarebbero immesse nell’atmosfera.
Una curiosità che rende l’impianto altamente tecnologico è il costante monitoraggio sul corretto funzionamento del sistema attuato da una connessione web: tramite delle schede collegate agli inverter è possibile monitorare in tempo reale i dati di produzione di energia sia all’interno che all’esterno del locale attraverso un ampio monitor LCD. Wow!
Precisely we are talking about 102 photovoltaic modules, with a power of 195 W each, for a total of 20 kWp, able to product from 21,000 to 24,000 kWh a year – as Livio Visentin, the managing director of the company which built the plant, says –.
These modules have an extreme stability of energy production, even in years, arriving to produce almost 390,000 kWh in twenty years and saving 265,000 kg of C02, which otherwise would be released in the atmosphere.
A curiosity that gives to the plant a hi-tech quality is the continuous monitoring on the perfect working of the system assured by a web connection. Through some cards connected to the inverters, it is possible to monitor in real time on a big LCD screen the data of energy production both in the club and outside it. Wow!

“Oggi è il compleanno del Circolo Magnolia. Spegniamo 4 candeline per i nostri 4 anni di attività. Accendiamo 100 pannelli fotovoltaici.
Oltre al discorso importante dell’abbattimento delle emissioni di CO2 (con i pannelli produrremo energia che equivale a quella consumata da 7 edifici di quattro piani) ci piace ricordare che tutto questo è stato possibile perché la gente ci ha seguito nel progetto del Circolo.
Quattro anni fa siamo arrivati qui e abbiamo trovato una struttura abbandonata.
Oggi abbiamo 29mila soci. Abbiamo avuto 300 mila persone alle centinaia di concerti, djset che abbiamo realizzato. 
Grazie a tutti i soci è stato possibile avere i soldi per investire in questo impianto.”



“Today is the birthday of Magnolia Club. We snuff off 4 candles for the fourth year of activity. But we turn on 100 photovoltaic panels. Beyond the important thread of the CO2 emissions (with these panels we will produce the same energy that 7 buildings of 4 floors consume) we like to remember that all this is possible because people followed us in the project for the club. Four years ago we arrived here an found these abandoned building. Today we have 29,000 members. We had 300,000 people, hundreds of venues, djset we realized. Thanks to all the members it was possible to have money to invest in this plant”.

“Sono contento di vedere realizzato un sogno. Ricordo che una delle prime cose che mi dissero Andrea Pontiroli e i ragazzi del Magnolia era che volevano rispettare la natura che c’è intorno al Circolo (circondato da alberi) e che avrebbero pensato a un impianto fotovoltaico per abbattere le emissioni.
Sono contento perché i Circoli Arci lo scorso anno lanciarono un dodecalogo per spingere la gente a pensare verde, a non bere acqua da bottigliette di plastica, a utilizzare prodotti da filiere corte e in cui il punto 9 faceva riferimento al fotovoltaico.
L’operazione del Magnolia dimostra che una struttura che è un’impresa sociale, oltre ad essere punto fermo di Milano per eventi musicali e culturali, è un circolo che pragmaticamente pensa a una politica del fare che porta a risultati come questo dell’impianto fotovoltaico.”



“I’m happy to see a dream come true. I remember that one of the first things Andrea Pontioli and guys of Magnolia said was that they wanted to respect nature all around the club (there are lots of trees around) and they said to think about a photovoltaic plant to pull down emissions. I’m happy because last year the Arci Clubs launched a 12 rules book to urge people to think green, to not drink water from plastic bottles, to buy products from short distribution chain and the 9th point was related to the photovoltaic. The operation by Magnolia demonstrates that the structure is a social business, and, apart from being a tenet for music and culture events in Milan, is a club that really thinks to a politics of acts that brings to some results like this of photovoltaic plant.

Cosa aggiungere? Siamo molto contenti che qualcuno pensi al divertimento come a qualcosa a cui ci si possa dedicare senza avere il pensiero di inquinare! Spesso non pensiamo alle conseguenze che anche il solo mangiare o ascoltare musica possano avere sull’ambiente. E molti gestori di locali e strutture turistiche (ne so qualcosa io qui dalla Romagna) non sono per nulla sensibili all’ambiente che li circonda e dalla quale attrattività spesso dipende la loro fortuna.
What to add? We are very happy that someone thinks to fun as something to enjoy without the fear of pollution! We don’t often think to the consequences that even the simple eating or listening to music can have on environment. And many clubs or other tourism structures managers (I well know here in Romagna) aren’t sensible to environment at all. The same environment often gives success to their business.

Bravi! Speriamo di poter venire presto al Magnolia a divertirci in maniera davvero spensierata, e speriamo che molti locali in Italia seguano questo grande esempio!
Well done! We hope to come soon to Magnolia to enjoy without thoughts and hope that many clubs will follow this example here in Italy!

Già... silenzio...
un po' perché ve ne state andando quasi tutti in vacanza...
un po' perché mi sta passando la voglia di scrivere a sentire certe notizie e certe persone (non voi!)...
un po' perché voglio scrivere cose sensate e a volte mi sembra di perdermi in un bicchiere d'acqua per mettere tre frasi in piedi...
un po' perché arriva il tempo più duro per il lavoro, prima delle ferie, quando bisogna fare tutto come se cascasse il mondo...
un po' perché le cose nuove da dire sono su cose in evoluzione...

però sappiate che è un silenzio come quello degli alberi... che crescono sommessamente e allargano le radici di nascosto dalla nostra vista...

partly because you're all going on holiday...
partly because I'm sick listening to some news and some people (not you!) and I lost inspiration for my posts...
partly because I want to write something sensed and I feel like drowning in a inch of water in writing few sentences...
partly because this is the hardest time for working, before going on holiday, when you have to do everything as tomorrow is the end of the world...
partly because news are about something in evolution...

but I want to make you know that this is a silence like that one of the trees... they grow quietly and extend the roots unseen...

Non devo aggiungere niente... solamente che è peccato non approfittarne!
I don't have to add anything but... it's a pity not to catch the opportunity!

Spuntano come funghi... gli alberi del vento! / They sprout like mushrooms... trees in the wind!

Dopo questa lunga pausa che ho dedicato ad ospitare mie carissime amiche nei post posso tornare a parlare in prima persona. Non è che mi manchino gli argomenti, ultimamente, ma vi sfido io a trovare qualche secondo libero nella mia esistenza…
After this long pause that I devoted to host my dear friends in the posts, I can come back to speak at first person. It’s not that I lack the arguments, most recently, but I defy you to find a free moment in my existence...

Passo da giornate di lavoro intenso a weekend movimentati. Vedo persone, faccio cose…
E ultimamente ho pensieri non molto sereni che riguardano la famiglia e la casa. Non preoccupatevi, sono comunque faccende di quasi-ordinaria amministrazione, che però comportano importanti stravolgimenti. Faccende che, in pratica, ti fanno sentire un po’ più adulta, che ti fanno perdere quel senso di spensieratezza che vorresti occupasse la tua mente per sempre.
Jumping from intense days of work to moved weekends. I meet people, do things ...
And lately I have not very serene thoughts that affect family and home. Do not worry, things are almost usual, but include significant changes. Matters that, in practice, make feel you a little more adult, because you are losing that sense of carelessness that you’d care ever for your mind.

Vabbè, non mi voglio inoltrare in dettagli peraltro abbastanza noiosi. Ma magari accennerei a descrivervi solo sfondo di queste vicende, uno scenario in cui i miei occhi non si stancano mai di cercare curiosità e cose interessanti.
Well, I don’t want to enter in details, however pretty boring ones. But even to mention I’d like only to describe the background of these events, a scenario in which my eyes don’t ever get tired of searching interesting and curious things.

Come per esempio durante il mio ultimo breve ed improvvisato viaggio in Puglia.
Ricordate quando la scorsa estate vi ho raccontato di piccole timide apparizioni, nella mia terra di origine, delle tecnologie per le energie rinnovabili?
Bene, questa volta sono rimasta a dir poco a bocca aperta per l’impressionante presenza di pale eoliche! Lo scenario che si apre percorrendo l’autostrada o andando in treno, varcando il confine pugliese a Nord, ricorda un po’ le foto di paesaggi coi mulini a vento, quelle che vedevo sfogliando i libri di geografia da piccola. Enormi pale, spuntate come funghi, si disseminano lungo le distese dorate di grano del Tavoliere delle Puglie.
Such as during my last short and improvised trip to Puglia.
Remember last summer when I told of small timid appearances of renewable energy technologies in my land of origin?
Well, this time I was open-mouthed in front of the impressive presence of wind blades! The scenario, that was opened along the highway or going by train, crossing the border to the North of Puglia, was something similar to photos of landscapes with windmills, which I saw browsing geography books as a child. Huge blades, filled up like mushrooms, disseminated through the lands of golden wheat of the “Tavoliere” of Puglia.


Non posso dire che guastino il paesaggio… forse sono disposte in maniera un po’ casuale e disordinata, ma questi giganti mi danno l’idea di qualcosa di bello, pulito, in armonia con la natura e col vento. Sembrano quasi gli alberi che mancano in una distesa così vasta.
I can’t say that they damage landscape... maybe they are put in some random and disorderly, but these giants I give the idea of something beautiful, clean, and in harmony with the nature and with the wind. They seem almost trees lacking in an expanse so vast.


Allora è vero che la Puglia è una tra le prime regioni, se non la prima, a sfruttare la risorsa del vento! E non solo… ho visto campi di pannelli fotovoltaici, pannelli solari di nuova generazione sui tetti della mia città…
Tutte novità che mi lasciano sperare in qualcosa di positivo per il futuro della terra in cui ho radici.
So it is true that Italy is one of the first regions, or perhaps proper the first, to exploit the resource of the wind! And not only ... I saw fields of photovoltaic panels, new generation solar panels on the roofs of my city...
Novelties that leave me hope in something positive for the future of the land where I have roots.


Tante volte ho disprezzato la mia terra per la scarsità di amore per l’ambiente, per la mancanza di verde, di boschi, per lo sfruttamento intensivo della campagna, per la mancanza di valorizzazione delle risorse. Tante volte, al posto di quelle infinite distese di oliveti, vigneti e campi di grano, mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere degli alberi diversi, alti, frondosi, dei prati su cui poter sdraiarsi, correre giocare.
Eppure più non vedo così spesso la mia terra e più mi stringe il cuore ogni volta che torno a vedere quella terra argillosa, quegli olivi argentei, quei contrasti di oro del frumento e azzurro del cielo, quel verde intenso delle vigne… In mezzo a quei colori ci sono le ombre di tante persone che hanno lavorato nelle campagne, braccia forti che hanno cercato di regalarci una vita migliore.
Allora la mia speranza e il mio augurio è che i pugliesi stiano trovando la via giusta per ridare vita alla terra, allontanando le forme di inutile spreco e inquinamento… avanti così!
Many times I despised my land for the lack of love for the environment, lack of green, of forested places, for the intensive exploitation of the farm, the lack of giving value to resources. Many times, instead of those endless lands of olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields, I would like to see different trees, tall, leafy, some lawns on which to lie down, run, play.
Yet not so often I see my land and my heart every is shaken whenever I go back to see that clayey land, those silvery olive trees, the contrasts of the gold wheat and blue sky, the deep green of the vineyards... In the midst of those colours there are the shadows of so many people that have worked in the countryside, who had strong arms by which they tried to give us a better life.
So my hope and my wish is that the people living in Puglia are finding the way to give a new life to the earth, away from unnecessary waste and pollution... go on like this!

"Un amore sostenibile" #2 / "A sustainable love" #2

Eccoci alla seconda parte del racconto di Alessia e Carlo, novelli e felici sposi ai quali non manco di augurare tanta felicità per sempre!

E vorrei dedicare questo secondo ed ultimo post in tema di matrimonio a Gabry, una mia cara collega che si sposa con Hichem questo giovedì, facendo assieme la scelta di donare i soldi per le bomboniere ad un’associazione no-profit, Emergency. Bravi! Vi auguro una vita splendida e ricca di belle cose circondati dall’amore delle persone che vi vogliono bene!
Non mi dilungherò oltre con la prefazione ma vorrei ringraziare tutti quelli che hanno letto, commentato, linkato e ribloggato il post precedente, in particolare VivereVerde che mi ha fatto conoscere a molti dei suoi lettori!!! Grazie!!!

Here we are, telling the second part of the story of the newlywed and happy Alessia and Carlo, to which I don't miss to wish a lot of happyness forever!
And I want to dedicate this second and last post on weddings to Gabry, my dear colleague who is getting married with Hichem this Thursday, choosing to donate money for ‘confetti’ to a no-profit association, Emergency. Congratulations! I wish you a wonderful life together, full of beautiful things and surrounded by the love of your beloved persons!

I will not be long more with the premise but I just want to thank all of you that read, commented, linked and re-blogged the previous post, especially VivereVerde who made me know to most of her readers! Thank you so much!

Non abbiamo fatto lista nozze, abbiamo chiesto la famosa "busta" a parenti e amici spiegando che ciò che avremmo raccolto sarebbe andato un po' a coprire le nostre spese e il resto:

• grazie al nostro amico Joussef (che collabora con Educaid) contribuirà alla ricostruzione in Palestina.
• grazie a Manitese andrà ad un progetto che il gruppo sta sostenendo in Burkina Faso.
• grazie a Don Claudio finanzierà progetti di microcredito sul nostro territorio.
We didn’t do the wedding list, we asked to our relatives and friends the usual “envelope”, explaining that what we collected would have covered a little part of our purchases and the rest:
• thanks to our friend Joussef (who collaborate with Educaid) part of money will contribute to the rebuilding in Palestine.
• thanks to Manitese part of money will be devolved to a project sustained from the association in Burkina Faso.
• thanks to Don Claudio part of money will finance a fair kind of credit.

In sala abbiamo appeso alcuni cartelloni per spiegare perché la scelta di cibi freschi, niente plastica, l’importanza del ridurre il trasporto dei beni, di consumare acqua del rubinetto ma anche di imparare a dare valore a ciò che si fa e non ciò che si ha e che la felicità non viene da ciò che compriamo e consumiamo (alimentando lo spreco di risorse e la produzione di rifiuti e spesso contribuendo ad ingiustizie sociali).
In the hall we hang some posters to explain why we chose fresh foods, no plastic, the importance to reduce the trade of goods, the importance to consume water on the tap but also to learn in giving more value to what you do and not what you have. We also said that happiness doesn’t come from what we purchase and consume (which makes grow the waste of resources, rubbish and also social injustices).

Oltre all’intento “educativo” ci siamo concessi anche qualche creatività gratuita:
Beyond the educational intent there was also the creative one:

• Alle pareti della sala abbiamo appeso una mini-mostra composta da una decina di foto di panorami d’Irlanda fatte da Carlo.
• We did a little exposition on the walls of the hall hanging a ten of landscape photos taken in Ireland by Carlo.

• Inoltre dato che gli spazi offerti dalla parrocchia non erano proprio scenografici, abbiamo realizzato un set fotografico: era semplicemente un lenzuolo disegnato da me (con i disegni dei ragazzi dell’Aquilone ingigantiti) attaccato sul palco e illuminato dalle luci del teatrino parrocchiale.

• Moreover, seeing that the spaces offered by the parish weren’t so scenographic, we created a photographic set: a simple sheet designed by me (with the enlarged drawings of the children of the Aquilone association) hanged on the stage and lightened from the parish theatre lights.

• In effetti siamo un po’ maniaci di fotografia e ci piaceva che anche questo aspetto della nostra vita fosse presente. Quindi ci siamo assicurati di avere dei “buoni scatti”, grazie a due amici fotografi, ma vi assicuro che, anche senza fotografi professionisti, a distanza di un mese dal matrimonio, si è sommersi dalle foto delle immancabili macchine digitali dei presenti con materiale per almeno due album.
• We are really fond of photography, so we liked the idea that this aspect of our life would not have been neglect. So we assured to have “good shots”, thanks to two friends who are photographer, but I ensure that, even without professional photographers, until a month before the wedding day you are buried with pictures by the unfailing cameras of hosts, with enough material for filling two albums.

• Per le auto: io sono arrivata in Lambretta e Carlo si è fatto prestare un vecchio pullmino wolkswagen e lo ha decorato con fiori e arcobaleni di cartoncino, molto hippy!

• For cars: I took the Lambretta (old Italian scooter n.d.t) and Carlo came with a old borrowed wolkwagen coach, decorating it with flowers and rainbows in paper… very hippy!

Se ciò che vi ho detto non basta, vi posso rivelare qualche altra ideuzza che non siamo riusciti a realizzare:
If these things are not enough I can reveal some little ideas more we didn’t be able to realize:

• Per l’abito da sposa mi sarebbe piaciuto comprarne uno che avevo trovato al mercatino dell’usato e idem per Carlo… volevamo qualcosa di vintage ma siamo scesi a patti con i nostri genitori, che volevano un matrimonio più classico e già avevano ingoiato il rospone dell’aperitivo nella saletta parrocchiale, così abbiamo ceduto sui vestiti usati. Però si può fare!
Un’altra alternativa all’acquisto potrebbe essere affittarli.
• I would have been happy to purchase the wedding dress I saw at the second-hand market. Carlo wanted the same for himself. We wanted something vintage, but we had to negotiate with our parents who wanted a more traditional wedding. They bit the bullet of the aperitif in the parish hall, so we renounced to the second-hand dresses. But it could be a good thing to do!
Another option could be to rent dresses.

• Per l’addobbo floreale avrei voluto addobbare io la chiesa. Avevo pensato a piantine di primule seminate un po’ ovunque e edera sulle panche ma non sono riuscita ad organizzarmi, così ho chiesto ad fiorista solo il bouquet, l’altare e le prime panche (niente fiore all’occhiello, niente addobbi per le auto, niente nuvole di fiori di cui non si accorge nessuno e che il giorno dopo andranno nel bidone)… sìììì è vero si fa un po’ la figura dei pezzenti ma chissene…
As regards the flower decorations I wanted to decorate the church myself. I thought about little primrose plants to distribute all around and ivy on the pews but I wasn’t able to organize, so I asked to a florist only the bouquet and the decorations for the altar and the first pews (neither flower at the buttonhole, on cars nor flower clouds of which nobody notice and the day after are waste)… Yes, the look could seem a bit poor but does anyone care?

• Per le foto avevamo pensato di dotare gli invitati di macchinette ma la sala era un po’ troppo buia e con il flash di quelle macchinette rischiavamo di avere come ricordo amici e parenti ‘sparaflesciati’ con gli occhi rossi, insomma effetto coniglio.
• As regards photos at first we thought to give some cameras to guests but the hall was too dark and with the flashes of those cameras we would have been at risk to have pictures of relatives and friends with a pale look and red eyes like rabbits.

Ultimo consiglio:
Last suggestion:

Quando andate in qualsiasi posto per comprare qualsiasi cosa, che siano calze, un reggiseno, fiori o qualsiasi altra cosa assolutamente non dite che vi state sposando…chissà perché i negozianti pensano che voi per quel giorno vogliate spendere molto più del reale valore di ciò che state acquistando.
When you go in every kind of shop to purchase anything, in example nylons, bras, flowers or every kind of stuff, don’t absolutely say that you are getting married… I wonder why sellers think that for the wedding day you want to pay more than the real value of purchases.

E vissero tutti felici e contenti…
And lived happily ever after…

Alla fine erano tutti molto soddisfatti, anche i più scettici, perché hanno mangiato bene (purtroppo è la prima cosa) e hanno capito che stavamo cercando di offrire loro qualcosa di più. Li stavamo invitando a condividere cose che per noi sono molto sentite ma anche che anche per loro dovrebbero essere importanti, tanto anche nei giorni successivi ci hanno chiesto spiegazioni e noi siamo stati felici di fornirgliene… per noi è stato un successone!
At the end everybody were really satisfied, even the more sceptics, because they eat the best (unfortunately is the first thing) and they understood that we wanted to offer them more and invite them to share things we feel cordial. It would be great if they can feel these things important too. But something has happened because even in the following days they asked us more infos, which we were happy to give… it was a great success!
