La mia prima volta… / My first time…

Non è che avete frainteso? Ieri è stata la mia prima volta, la mia prima esperienza con la… macchina da cucire!!!
Sì, ed è stato molto divertente, soprattutto perché mi sono cimentata in un workshop di riutilizzo!
Ciò che mi ha trascinato in questa bella impresa è stato il travolgente entusiasmo creativo di ReeDoHub, una cooperativa fondata a Rimini nel 2012, che “promuove progetti di moda e design sostenibili e autoprodotti, con un lavoro che è sia del cervello sia delle mani, un lavoro che è valore e un bisogno esistenziale” (vedi anche questo mio vecchio post).
Have you misunderstood? Sure! Yesterday was my first time, my first experience with the sewing machine...!
Yes, and it was great fun, especially because I ventured into a workshop for re-use!
What dragged me into this great challenge was the overwhelming enthusiasm of creative ReeDoHub, a cooperative founded in Rimini in 2012, which “promotes projects for sustainable and self-produced fashion and design, with a work that is both by brain and hands, a work that is value and existential need” (see also this my old post).
 

Questi sono i due risultati che sono usciti fuori dalle mie mani. Ancora adesso sono incredula. Sì, ok, non sono perfetti, però è tanto per una come me che a mala pena sapeva cucire a mano qualche bottone o improvvisare qualche “abito” per mascherarsi… Quelli che vedete nelle due foto sono un cuscino da viaggio e un portaborraccia/portaposate, ricavati da un mio vecchio pantalone usurato.
These are the two results that have come out of my hands. Even now I’m still incredulous. Yes, ok , they are not perfect, but it is so much for someone like me who barely knew some how to sew button by hand or improvise some “dress” to mask... The ones you see in the two photos are a travel pillow and a bottle/cutlery holder, taken from one of my old worn pants.

L’idea meravigliosa di questo laboratorio di sartoria creativa è stata sviluppata da ReeDo – e gestita alla grande dalla super-creativa Cristiana Curreli – nell’ambito della Fiera del Vintage di Forlì, un evento che si è tenuto lo scorso weekend e che ha richiamato tantissimi visitatori. Un plauso all’organizzazione che ha assicurato non solo la presenza di stand molto interessanti, ma anche allestimenti in tema e l’avvicendarsi di più di un evento interno, fra cui musica dal vivo d’annata, concorsi fashion, workshop, per l’appunto, e sfilate di abiti rigorosamente vintage o – come la stessa ReeDo ha proposto – di rivisitazione di tessuti usati o scartati per creazioni davvero spettacolari.
The idea of this wonderful creative dressmaking workshop was developed by ReeDo – and managed by the great super creative Cristiana Curreli – as part of the Vintage Fair in Forlì, an event that was held last weekend and drew many visitors. A praise to the organization that ensured not only the presence of very interesting stands, but also a theme-based scenario, and more of an internal event, including live music vintage , fashion competitions, workshops – precisely – and parades of strictly vintage clothing or – as the same ReeDo proposed – the reuse of used or discarded fabrics for truly spectacular creations.

Ma torniamo a me: come mi sono comportata alle prese con la macchina da cucire? Inibita, forse dapprima dalla difficoltà ad inserire il filo per imbastire nella cruna dell’ago – eppure ci vedo bene! –, l’approccio è stato come avvicinarsi ad un UFO, proprio un oggetto non-identificato!!! Di come si usa la macchina da cucire ne avevo solo un vago ricordo di quando da piccola assistevo ai lavori che faceva mia nonna. Ora, la parte più difficile è stato memorizzare il percorso che deve fare il filo dalla bobina all’ago – che fra l’altro, mi hanno detto, essere differente da macchina a macchina – poi però è andato più o meno tutto liscio e io ci ho preso gusto, tanto che da realizzare un solo oggetto ne ho fatti due!
Devo dire che cucire a macchina è quasi rilassante e poi mi apre un mondo di possibilità che prima dovevo contenere per la mia inabilità nel cucito. Insomma quasi quasi ci faccio un pensierino…
Il mio compagno che ha “dovuto” sorbirsi tre ore di osservazione del workshop – ma secondo me si è divertito pure lui – ha già affermato di aver trovato il regalo da farmi a Natale! ;)
But coming back to me, what was the way I behaved with the sewing machine? Inhibited, perhaps first by difficulty inserting the basting thread through the needle eye – and yet I see clearly! –, the approach was like approaching a UFO, just an unidentified object! Of how to use the sewing machine I had only a vague record of when as a child I witnessed the work that my grandmother did. The hardest part was to fix in mind the path the thread had to do from the spool to the needle – which among other things, they said, it’s different from machine to machine – but then it went more or less smoothly and I enjoyed it, so that to aim to sew two object, not a single one!
I must say that sewing machine is almost relaxing and then it opened a world of possibilities that before I had to hold due to my disability in sewing. So I’m very nearly to do a little thought about buying it...
My partner – who “had to” put up with three hours of observation of the workshop, but I think he enjoyed it as well – has already claimed to have found the gift from me for Christmas! ;)

È partita!!! / Let’s start!

Periodo di partenze, questo! Ma oggi parlo di una partenza ben diversa.
È partita la raccolta differenziata a domicilio in quel della zona a mare di Rimini Nord!
Ve lo avevo anticipato in questo post e già doveva essere attiva a partire dallo scorso luglio.
A period with new things starting, this! Today I'll tell you about the doorstep recycling starting in the sea area of the North of Rimini!
I anticipated it in this post and it had to be already active since last July.

 
A giugno sono arrivati i bidoncini colorati, completi di comunicazione (calendario dei giorni di ritiro, rifiutologo e altri avvertimenti). Una comunicazione molto colorata e accattivante, ma ancora mancante di traduzioni nelle lingue più diffuse fra gli abitanti qui della zona e fra i turisti, che talvolta affittano gli appartamenti invece che andare in albergo.
In June the colored bins arrived, complete with communication – calendar days of collection, the waste dictionary and other warnings. A very colorful and attractive communication, but still missing translations into the languages most commonly spoken among the inhabitants of the area and among tourists, who sometimes rent the apartments instead of booking hotel.

Comunque per poter salutare i bidoni stradali abbiamo dovuto attendere fino a pochi giorni fa. Io ormai avevo perso le speranze!
È anche vero che con la presenza dei turisti il processo di conversione della raccolta differenziata non poteva che subire qualche ritardo sulla tabella di marcia.
Così è stato, tanto che nel frattempo c’era una gran confusione sui giorni del ritiro, che spesso non erano gli stessi descritti nel calendario.
Ma, una volta eliminati i bidoni stradali, voilé, tutto è rientrato nella normalità.
However, to be able to say bye-bye to the road bins we had to wait until a few days ago. By now I had lost hope!
It is also true that with the presence of tourism the process of converting waste collection could only have a delay on the roadmap.
So it was, so much that in the meantime there was a lot of confusion on the days of collection, which were often not the same as described in the calendar.
But, after removal of road recycling bins – voilé – everything was back to normal.

Adesso, come previsto sono sorti falsi problemi, discussioni, dimenticanze a partire già dal mio vicinato… ma che volete, bisogna piano piano farci l’abitudine… speriamo!
E adesso mi ritrovo a ingrandire il calendario per la zia anziana che abita al piano di sopra… dai che con un po’ di buona volontà ce la possiamo fare!
Now, as provided, false problems, discussions, forgetfulness have arisen, starting already from my neighborhood ... but anyway, you have to slowly get used to it ... hopefully!
And now I find myself enlarge the calendar for the old aunt who lives upstairs ... from that with a little 'good will we can do it!

Il Ricigufo / The Reowl

Chi di voi mi segue anche sul mio profilo personale di Facebook, Twitter o Instagram*, lo conosce già, il 'Ricigufo', il mio mitico animaletto di tetrapack, stoffa e altri materiali, che l'ottobre dello scorso anno riscosse un gran successo, fra bambini e adulti che parteciparono al laboratorio di Mani Tese per il 'mese delle famiglie' in piazza Cavour a Rimini.
Those of you who also follow me on my personal profile on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram *, already know, the 'Reowl', my mythical animal, made with tetrapak, fabric and other materials, which in last October was a great success, among children and adults who participated in the workshop of Mani Tese for the 'families' month' in Cavour square at Rimini.

Se alcuni amici, vedendo questa foto in alto, lo scambiarono per un gigantesco totem nel mio giardino, i bambini invece si appopriarono di questa figura nella loro mente dove la mescolarono assieme alla loro più fervida fantasia, e con le loro manine seppero moltiplicarla in un esercito di strani gufi e gufetti colorati, ognuno diverso dall'altro e tutti andarono via contenti con la loro fantastica creazione...
If some friends, seeing this pic, mistook him for a giant totem pole in my garden, the children put this figure in their mind where they mingled it with their wildest imagination, and their hands were able to multiply it in a army of strange colored owls and little owls, each one different. So everybody went away happy with their fantastic creation ...

Non avrei mai pensato di creare qualcosa che riscuotesse un tale consenso fra i più piccoli...
I never thought to create something that shaken up such a consensus among the young ...

Sapete benissimo che io non amo il tetrapak, questo mostro creato per sostituire il vetro, che, ok, avrà i suoi vantaggi, in termini di peso e quindi di trasporto ed economicità, ma con tutti gli espedienti utilizzati per ottenere dal suo smaltimento materiali da riutilizzare, non si dimostra così ecologico, almeno per me... Ma questa è un'altra storia e se volete ne riparleremo più avanti.
You know very well that I do not like tetrapak, this monster created to replace the glass, which, okay, will have its advantages in terms of weight and then transport and economy, but with all the tricks used to get from its disposal new materials, it's not so eco-friendly to me ... But that's another story and if you want I'll tell you more on that later.

Comunque qualcuna di queste scatole infernali capitano anche a me in casa ogni tanto.
However, some of these infernal boxes finish at home every now and then.

Mi ritrovavo un cartone di succo d'arancia, questa volta. Bisogna premettere che per questo lavoro, più grande è la scatola di tetrapak, meglio è, anche se si ottengono simpatici risultati anche da quelle un po' più piccole.
I found a carton of orange juice this time. It must be stated that for this work, the larger the tetrapak box is, the better it is, although nice results are obtained also from those ones a bit 'smaller.

Quindi, serve poi della stoffa (la mia avanzata da un vecchio pantalone consumato) che va tagliata a zig zag. Il cartone va lavato e schiacciato per praticare dei tagli seguendo una sagoma ben precisa e poi va ridata la sua forma, piegandolo in alcuni punti (un po' complicato dire come).
So you need also the fabric – mine left from an old worn pants – that must be cut in a zig zag pattern. The cardboard should be washed and squashed to practice cuts following a precise shape and then it must given back its shape, folding it in some points (it's difficult to say how).

Infine con la colla si riveste il cartone, si colorano i punti scoperti con pennarelli coprenti, si crea il 'faccione' del gufo con un coperchietto un po' grande, tappi, bottoni e piccoli altri oggetti di scarto a fantasia. Per esempio, il becco del mio gufo era un pezzo di un vecchio orecchino...
Finally with the glue cover the carton, color with markers covering the nakedness, create the 'big face' of the Owl with a large cap, little caps, buttons and other small items saved from waste in fantasy. For example, the beak of my owl was a piece of an old earring ...

Così, ecco un'esperienza divertente per i più piccoli sviluppando la fantasia e manualità, ma anche quella dei grandi, che devono aiutare a tagliare il cartone con le forbici e a piegarlo. Poi può essere un gioco o una semplice decorazione, visto che i gufi attualmente sono tanto di moda! ;-)
Il tutto per dirvi che a volte basta trovare quello che c'è in casa, osservarlo, maneggiarlo, per scoprirne forme nascoste e possibili nuovi utilizzi, poi il resto vien da sé.
So, here is a fun experience for children developing their imagination and dexterity, but also that one of adults, which should help children to cut the cardboard with scissors and bend it. Then it may be a game or a simple decoration, because the owls are currently so fashionable! ;-)
All this to tell you that sometimes you just find what you need at home, observing it, handling it, to discover hidden forms and new uses, then the rest comes by itself.
