Di eco-weekend in eco-weekend! / From an eco-weekend to another one!

Carissimi abitanti di Dandaworld, come avete trascorso le ultime feste?
Vi ho pensato tanto durante il weekend pasquale, ma non ero in grado di aggiornarvi sui miei spostamenti… sono stata in Abruzzo, girando per le bellissime Pacentro, Sulmona e Popoli.
Il tempo, come un po’ ovunque, non è stato molto clemente e fra le mura molto spesse della casa in cui eravamo ospiti, c’era poca (o nessuna) connessione.
Eh sì, quando ti trovi in situazioni così, ti rendi conto quanto ormai dipendiamo dal web!
Dear inhabitants of Dandaworld, how did you spend the last festivities?
I thought a lot about you during the Easter weekend, but I was not able to update you on my travels... I was in Abruzzo, cruising through the beautiful Pacentro, Sulmona and Popoli.
As everywhere, wheather was not very good and among the very thick walls of the house where we were guests, there was a little (or none) web connectivity.
Yes, only when you are in such situations, you realize how we are now web addicted!

Questo weekend appena giunto a conclusione è stato comunque più favorevole, climaticamente parlando e abbiamo approfittato per non mancare ad un evento, qui a Rimini, che mi ha catturato sin dal nome… “A faz da par maker!”, che è una simpatica fusione fra dialetto romagnolo e inglese per indicare il “fai-da-te”.
È stato, infatti, un evento dedicato all’autoproduzione, con tanti produttori e artigiani che hanno esposto i loro prodotti fatti con le proprie mani, il proprio sapere e la propria creatività!
This weekend, just ended, was still more favorable, climatically speaking, and we took the opportunity to not miss an event, here in Rimini, which caught me since the name ... "A faz da par maker!", which is a nice fusion between the dialect in Romagna and English, to indicate the "do-it-yourself".
In fact, it was, an event related to self-production, with many manufacturers and craftsmen who exhibited their products made with their own hands, their knowledge and their creativity!

L’esposizione è stata contornata da talk e microconferenze, workshop, tutti legati dal filo della condivisione, del consumo critico e sostenibile!
Quante belle cose: giochi, gioielli, oggetti di design realizzati con materiali di riciclo, fotografia alternativa, stampa 3D (dove hanno partecipato i ragazzi di MakeRN con cui avevamo realizzato questo laboratorio), dolci, sartoria e cosmesi da autoproduzione!
Infine una sana e buona cena vegana, offerta con stoviglie finalmente non usa e getta, proiezioni e tanta musica!
The exhibition was surrounded by talks, little conferences, workshops, all linked by the thread of sharing, critical consumption and sustainable lifestyle!
How many beautiful things: toys, jewelery, design objects made from recycled materials, alternative photography, 3D printing – attended by the MakeRN lads with which we had made this workshop –, DIY cakes, sewing and cosmetics!
Finally, a healthy and good vegan dinner, offered in non-disposable tableware, projections and lots of music!

Ma non c’è da stare sugli allori… il prossimo sabato vi vogliamo tutti sempre qui, a Rimini, a La Casa Sull’Albero, perché Mani Tese e Pacha Mama, in collaborazione con Terra Equa, vi invitiano alla sfilata “Non Solo Vintage”, in occasione del Fashion Revolution Day. Naturalmente io sarò dietro le quinte.

Of course I will be behind the backstage.

La mia prima volta… / My first time…

Non è che avete frainteso? Ieri è stata la mia prima volta, la mia prima esperienza con la… macchina da cucire!!!
Sì, ed è stato molto divertente, soprattutto perché mi sono cimentata in un workshop di riutilizzo!
Ciò che mi ha trascinato in questa bella impresa è stato il travolgente entusiasmo creativo di ReeDoHub, una cooperativa fondata a Rimini nel 2012, che “promuove progetti di moda e design sostenibili e autoprodotti, con un lavoro che è sia del cervello sia delle mani, un lavoro che è valore e un bisogno esistenziale” (vedi anche questo mio vecchio post).
Have you misunderstood? Sure! Yesterday was my first time, my first experience with the sewing machine...!
Yes, and it was great fun, especially because I ventured into a workshop for re-use!
What dragged me into this great challenge was the overwhelming enthusiasm of creative ReeDoHub, a cooperative founded in Rimini in 2012, which “promotes projects for sustainable and self-produced fashion and design, with a work that is both by brain and hands, a work that is value and existential need” (see also this my old post).
 

Questi sono i due risultati che sono usciti fuori dalle mie mani. Ancora adesso sono incredula. Sì, ok, non sono perfetti, però è tanto per una come me che a mala pena sapeva cucire a mano qualche bottone o improvvisare qualche “abito” per mascherarsi… Quelli che vedete nelle due foto sono un cuscino da viaggio e un portaborraccia/portaposate, ricavati da un mio vecchio pantalone usurato.
These are the two results that have come out of my hands. Even now I’m still incredulous. Yes, ok , they are not perfect, but it is so much for someone like me who barely knew some how to sew button by hand or improvise some “dress” to mask... The ones you see in the two photos are a travel pillow and a bottle/cutlery holder, taken from one of my old worn pants.

L’idea meravigliosa di questo laboratorio di sartoria creativa è stata sviluppata da ReeDo – e gestita alla grande dalla super-creativa Cristiana Curreli – nell’ambito della Fiera del Vintage di Forlì, un evento che si è tenuto lo scorso weekend e che ha richiamato tantissimi visitatori. Un plauso all’organizzazione che ha assicurato non solo la presenza di stand molto interessanti, ma anche allestimenti in tema e l’avvicendarsi di più di un evento interno, fra cui musica dal vivo d’annata, concorsi fashion, workshop, per l’appunto, e sfilate di abiti rigorosamente vintage o – come la stessa ReeDo ha proposto – di rivisitazione di tessuti usati o scartati per creazioni davvero spettacolari.
The idea of this wonderful creative dressmaking workshop was developed by ReeDo – and managed by the great super creative Cristiana Curreli – as part of the Vintage Fair in Forlì, an event that was held last weekend and drew many visitors. A praise to the organization that ensured not only the presence of very interesting stands, but also a theme-based scenario, and more of an internal event, including live music vintage , fashion competitions, workshops – precisely – and parades of strictly vintage clothing or – as the same ReeDo proposed – the reuse of used or discarded fabrics for truly spectacular creations.

Ma torniamo a me: come mi sono comportata alle prese con la macchina da cucire? Inibita, forse dapprima dalla difficoltà ad inserire il filo per imbastire nella cruna dell’ago – eppure ci vedo bene! –, l’approccio è stato come avvicinarsi ad un UFO, proprio un oggetto non-identificato!!! Di come si usa la macchina da cucire ne avevo solo un vago ricordo di quando da piccola assistevo ai lavori che faceva mia nonna. Ora, la parte più difficile è stato memorizzare il percorso che deve fare il filo dalla bobina all’ago – che fra l’altro, mi hanno detto, essere differente da macchina a macchina – poi però è andato più o meno tutto liscio e io ci ho preso gusto, tanto che da realizzare un solo oggetto ne ho fatti due!
Devo dire che cucire a macchina è quasi rilassante e poi mi apre un mondo di possibilità che prima dovevo contenere per la mia inabilità nel cucito. Insomma quasi quasi ci faccio un pensierino…
Il mio compagno che ha “dovuto” sorbirsi tre ore di osservazione del workshop – ma secondo me si è divertito pure lui – ha già affermato di aver trovato il regalo da farmi a Natale! ;)
But coming back to me, what was the way I behaved with the sewing machine? Inhibited, perhaps first by difficulty inserting the basting thread through the needle eye – and yet I see clearly! –, the approach was like approaching a UFO, just an unidentified object! Of how to use the sewing machine I had only a vague record of when as a child I witnessed the work that my grandmother did. The hardest part was to fix in mind the path the thread had to do from the spool to the needle – which among other things, they said, it’s different from machine to machine – but then it went more or less smoothly and I enjoyed it, so that to aim to sew two object, not a single one!
I must say that sewing machine is almost relaxing and then it opened a world of possibilities that before I had to hold due to my disability in sewing. So I’m very nearly to do a little thought about buying it...
My partner – who “had to” put up with three hours of observation of the workshop, but I think he enjoyed it as well – has already claimed to have found the gift from me for Christmas! ;)

Dunque, dunque… riprendendo il precedente post, comincerei a raccontarvi brevemente cosa è successo prima di Natale, tra un’ora e un’altra dedicata all’impacchettamento dei regali per Mani Tese alla Feltrinelli, operazione fra l’altro andata per il meglio sia per la raccolta fondi, che per la meravigliosa collaborazione e amicizia stretta con numerosi volontari, straordinari in tutti i sensi, ragione per cui vi consiglio vivamente, per il prossimo dicembre, di unirvi a tale iniziativa nel comune con sede Feltrinelli a voi più vicino!

So, returning to the previous post ... I would begin to tell you briefly what happened before Christmas, in an hour and another dedicated to the making of gifts for Mani Tese at Feltrinelli bookshop. Among other things it went for the best both for fundraising, and for for the wonderful collaboration and close friendship with many volunteers, that were extraordinary in every sense.  Which is why I highly recommend, for next December, to join this initiative in the cities with a Feltrinelli bookshop near you!

Con la stessa Mani Tese, come di consueto ogni Natale, abbiamo partecipato ad “Equamente”, contenitore di eventi che si ripete qui a Rimini due volte l’anno, dove, unite ad un mercatino equo-solidale, tante associazioni di volontariato sono invitate coi loro banchetti per svariate finalità umanitarie e sociali. Il nostro è stato dedicato, per la prima volta, alla raccolta fondi per un nuovo progetto scelto dal nostro gruppo, la campagna “Intrattabili” per l’informazione e il recupero tra i bambini colpiti dal trafficking in Cambogia. Eravamo lì con l’artigianato proveniente dalla stessa Cambogia e con dei bellissimi cesti realizzati dalla brava Sabrina, con oggetti provenienti dal nostro mercatino dell’usato. Purtroppo devo dire che la crisi si sente anche molto nel volontariato… pochissime vendite, ma fortunatamente tanto interesse.

Every Christmas as usual, with the same Mani Tese, we attended “Equamente”, the container of events which is repeated twice a year in Rimini. Here, together with a fair-trade market, many voluntary associations are invited with their banquets for various humanitarian and social purposes. Ours has been dedicated, for the first time, to raise funds for a new project chosen by our group, the “Intractables” campaign for the information and the recovery of children affected by trafficking in Cambodia. We were there with crafts coming from Cambodia and with beautiful baskets made by good Sabrina, made with objects from our second-hand shop. Unfortunately I have to say that the crisis is felt also in fund-raising ... very few sales, but fortunately a lot of interest.

Quello che, invece, mi aspettavo, data la gratuità e la particolarità dell’iniziativa, era più partecipazione ad un divertente laboratorio di eco-fashion, organizzato dalle ragazze di ReeDo. ReeDo è un laboratorio fondato nell’ambito della facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, Corso di Laurea magistrale in Moda, dell’Università di Bologna, polo di Rimini, che si propone di realizzare capi di abbigliamento e accessori, utilizzando gli scarti di stoffe, ritagli di vestiti o anche borse e scarpe inutilizzate. Queste ragazze simpaticissime e dalla grande vena creativa, con cui ho poi avuto modo di chiacchierare durante e dopo il laboratorio, sono capaci di creare dei fantastici capi con qualsiasi cosa: jeans, camicie, maniche di maglie, bottoni… le loro creazioni sono completamente nuove e originali!

What, however, I was expecting, given the gratuity and the uniqueness of the initiative, was the participation in a fun workshop of eco-fashion, organized by the ReeDo girls. ReeDo is a laboratory based in the Faculty of Humanities, Undergraduate Degree in Fashion, University of Bologna, Rimini Campus, which aims to create garments and accessories, using scraps of fabrics, trimmings unused clothes or shoes, bags. Then I had the opportunity to chat during and after the workshop with these girls which are likeable and have a great creativity, being able to create fantastic garments with anything: jeans, shirts, sleeve shirts, buttons ... their designs are completely fresh and original!

Peccato non poter documentare con foto di ciò che sono in grado di creare, ma posso mostrarvi la bizzarra collana venuta fuori tagliando striscioline di maglie colorate… l’ho realizzata io stessa seguendo le loro indicazioni e la mia (scarsa) fantasia! :)

Il bello dei loro laboratori è che loro sono capaci di stimolare la tua stessa inventiva, rendendoti completamente partecipe dell’atto creativo!

Too bad not being able to document with pictures of what they are able to create, but I can show the bizarre necklace came out cutting strips of colored shirts ... I made it myself by following their directions and my (lack of) imagination! :)

The beauty of their labs is that they are able to stimulate your own imagination, making you fully participate in the creative act!

Insomma, sono rimasta molto colpita dalla loro fantasia e soprattutto dall’entusiasmo che ci mettono, sia pur davanti a poche persone interessate. Un peccato che molti si siano persi quel laboratorio per andare, invece, in giro a fare inutili sperperi di denaro…

Io sono molto felice di aver conosciuto ReeDo, e spero di poter incontrare loro nuovamente, magari collaborando presto con loro a qualche nuova iniziativa!

In short, I was very impressed by their creativity and above all the enthusiasm that they bring, even in front of a few people interested. A pity that many have lost that lab for going, instead, around doing useless waste of money ...

I am very happy to have known ReeDo, and I hope to meet them again, perhaps soon collaborating with them for new initiatives!

Equamente Estate ’09… Beau Rivage Beau Vintage!

Se dovessi ripercorrere minuto per minuto tutte le emozioni vissute nello scorso fine settimana, non sarebbe sufficiente un blog! Anzi, a dirla tutta, ci vorrebbe un sistema che traduca il pensiero in parole scritte… non è mica semplice adesso, a distanza di giorni, raccontare!
If I had to recall minute by minute every emotion I felt during the last weekend, I’d never be able in the only space of a blog! To say it at all, indeed, I need a system for translating the thoughts in written words… it’s not simple to tell you now, after some days!

Beh comunque la prima giornata di Equamente Estate, edizione 2009, è stata davvero divertente!
Chi lo doveva dire che con abiti e oggetti ormai dimenticati non si possa creare addirittura qualcosa di molto trendy?
Ecco la dimostrazione in una pazza sfilata pensata e realizzata dai gruppi di Mani Tese di Rimini e Massa Finalese (MO), dal titolo… Beau Rivage Beau Vintage!
Visto che si tratta di una bella passerella dedicata agli anni ’60, ’70 e ’80, seguita da un bel numero di persone che si sono ritrovate ancora di più verso il tardo pomeriggio, trovo più indicato descrivervela con le immagini.

Well, anyway the first day of Equamente Estate, 2009 edition, was really amusing! Who could say that with clothes and objects, now forgotten, you cannot create something very fashionable?
Here’s the demonstration, a crazy fashion show, planned and realized by the two groups of Mani Tese of Rimini and Massa Finalese (MO), titled Beau Rivage Beau Vintage!
Due to the fact that it is a fashion runway dedicated to the years ’60, ’70 and ’80, showed in front of a good public who grew in the evening. I find easier to tell you by pictures.

Che tempi ragazzi!!! Ma vi ricordate come ci vestivamo? E pensare che adesso molti oggetti, vestiti e accessori ritornano… guardate qua! E voi cosa avete nella vostra soffitta o nei vostri armadi? Dai, dai, rovistate un po’ è troppo divertente!
Good times eh! But do you remember how we dressed? If you think that many objects, clothes and accessories come back… give a look here! And you, what have you in your attic or in your wardrobes? Let’s rummage in it, very amusing!

Se ci fate caso, alcuni capi, se accostati bene, si possono utilizzare benissimo anche oggi… ci vuole un po’ di fantasia, e perché no, di follia nel provare nuovi abbinamenti, come hanno fatto le ragazze e i ragazzi di Massa Finalese!
If you carefully look, some clothes, if well matched, are very useful even today… it needs a bit of cantasy and, why not, of madness to dress some clothes, how the boys and girls of Massa Finalese did!

Inevitabili le risate nel vedere le scenette sulla passerella e ripensare alla moda di qualche decina di anni fa! Siamo davvero così capaci di creare delle cose che hanno un utilizzo così breve e una vita pressappoco infinita? Beh, almeno cerchiamo di prolungarne l’utilizzo! ;)
Laughing was inevitable at the sight of some sketches on the runway and recalling the fashion of about ten years ago! Are we really so able to create some things with a very short utility and such an infinite life? So, let’s try to give them a longer life!

Verso i saluti finali… tutti insieme sulla passerella per una foto di gruppo e poi il via agli acquisti!!!
Si è risvegliato in tutti uno spirito di sperimentazione… chi acquista i vestiti visti nella sfilata, già avendo pensato ad abbinarli a questo o quell’altro capo già in proprio possesso… chi acquista le creazioni di una delle ragazze, l’inventrice di borsette tutte particolari, fatte con vhs, pezzi di giocattoli riciclati, scarti di materiale elettrico e stoffe… oppure chi acquista borse e scarpe che riviste sotto un altro aspetto potrebbero dare quel tocco romantico-vintage al proprio abbigliamento!
Toward the end… all together on the runway for a group photo and then go shopping!!!
A sense of experimenting was waken up in us… someone buys the clothes seen in the fashion show, thinking previously on how to match with personal clothes… someone buys the creations of one of the girls, the inventor of so special handbags, made with VHS, pieces of recycled toys, electrical waste and remnants… someone buys bags and shoes that, seen under another aspect could give a touch of romantic-vintage to personal wearing.

Insomma, che acquisti!!! Molte delle cose in vendita sono sparite subito, accalappiate da ragazze che si sono letteralmente fiondate sugli stand, alcune delle quali straniere (chissà perché). Per me è stato difficile trovare qualcosa… per la taglia, non per altro! :D
Però alla fine ho comprato due collane stupende, fatte con materiali del tutto naturali, ad un prezzo stracciato! Che affare!
In short, what a shopping!!! Many of things in sale disappeared in a little while, caught from girls who literally dashed over the stands, some of them were strangers (who knows why?). For me was very uneasy to find something… for the size, at least!
But at the end I did buy two beautiful necklaces, made with natural materials, at a very low price! What a business!

Sarà che noi donne siamo sempre prese dalla mania di comprare, però non c’è niente di più bello e piacevole che comprare qualcosa di usato: soddisfi la tua voglia di acquistare, risparmi, sottrai queste cose alle discariche e soprattutto, com’è stato in quest’occasione e nelle moltissime altre offerte da Mani Tese, dai una mano per i progetti del sud del mondo!!!
It will be the fact that we women are always taken from the shopping mania, but there’s nothing more pleasant and good of buying second hand things. You are satisfied in shopping, save money, save things from landfills and above all – the same that happens in this and those occasions from Mani Tese – help the project in the South of the World!!!

EQUAMENTE ESTATE ’09 – Rimini, 5 e 6 Settembre ’09 - Ci sarò! / I'll be there!

Ragazzi ve lo dico subito: questo è l’evento più bello a conclusione dell’estate!
Consiglio di non mancare assolutamente!

Vi spiego:

Il 5 e 6 settembre ci vedremo tutti in piazza Cavour a Rimini.
Equamente Estate ’09 sarà un evento promosso dalle associazioni Mani Tese, Pacha Mama, Una goccia per il mondo, Maria Negretto e C.E.R.E.S., tutte insieme in festa per un consumo responsabile.

Sabato 5 settembre, alle ore 19.00, l’associazione Mani Tese di Rimini organizza un vero e proprio defilé, Beau Rivage, Beau Vintage, con abiti in passerella anni ’60 - ’70 - ’80 e a seguire vendita dei modelli per sostenere un progetto in Cambogia.

Il giorno dopo, domenica 6 dalle ore 15.00, la giornata si apre con Alternative in strada, passeggiata interattiva tra proposte di autoproduzione, acquisti solidali, consumi bio-sostenibili.

Saranno strutturate due strade che ci porteranno a conoscere un modo alternativo di comprare ed agire responsabile, dove si potranno trovare banchetti e punti informativi di associazioni ed enti del territorio.
Inoltre, al centro dei due percorsi, verrà allestita una piccola mostra, Boicottare: pratica di resistenza, a cura dell’associazione Mani Tese, dove verranno illustrati i boicottaggi delle più grandi multinazionali. A fine percorso sarà installata la Boicottega, una bottega nella quale i clienti possono fare la loro spesa virtuale e dove i prodotti scelti verranno valutati tramite un test in termini di giustizia sociale legata al comportamento del produttore, identificando così il profilo del consumatore.

Durante il pomeriggio intrattenimento per i più piccoli con magie e burattini.

L’ultimo evento in programma invece si terrà alle 18.30 sempre in piazza, Consuma responsabile! incontro con Maurizio Marulli, del Centro Nuovo Modello di sviluppo, redattore della Guida al Consumo Critico.

Un fine settimana diverso all'insegna delle buone pratiche!!

Hey you, listen to me, please: this is the most beautiful event in the end of this summer! Please don’t miss it!

I’m telling you here:

On the 5th and 6th September we will meet all in Cavour square in Rimini.
Equamente Estate ’09 will be an event promoted by the associations Mani Tese, Pacha Mama, Una goccia per il mondo, Maria Negretto e C.E.R.E.S., all together celebrating a responsible way to consume.

Saturday 5th September, at 7 p.m., the association Mani Tese of Rimini organises a real fashion show, Beau Rivage, Beau Vintage , with clothes on runway from ’60 - ’70 - ’80 that will be sold after the show to sustain a project for Cambodia.

The day after, Sunday 6th from 3 p.m., the day will be opened with Alternative in strada, an interactive walk through home-made proposals, fair trade, organic and sustainable shopping.

There will be two paths – that will make you know alternative way to buy and to behave in a responsible way – where you’ll can find benches and info points for associations and local societies.
Moreover, at the centre of the two paths, it will set up a little exhibition, Boycott: a practise for opposition, edited by the association Mani Tese, where the boycotting of the great multinationals companies will be illustrated. At the end of the path a ‘Boycott-shop’ will be set up where you can do a virtual shopping. At the end of your shopping the chosen products will be valued by a test based on the social justice related to the manufacturers behaviour, so identifying the profile of you consumer.

During the afternoon there will be entertainments for children with magic tricks and puppets.

Last planned happening is at 6 p.m., even in the same square, Consume in a Responsible Way!, meeting with Maurizio Marulli, from the New Model Centre for development, editor of the A Guide for a Critical Consuming.

Ipermercatino dell'usato / Super Second Hand Market - Rimini 27 giugno 2009

Non devo aggiungere niente... solamente che è peccato non approfittarne!
