Ecoblogger... il ritorno! / Ecobologgers... are coming back!

Più volte mi sono sentita dire che i blog sono stati eclissati – per rimanere in tema con la recente eclissi – dai social network. Eppure, secondo me, non è così vero!
Nonostante i commenti scarseggino, c'è sempre qualcuno che legge i blog! Anzi, gli stessi social network si sono trasformati in veicolo di condivisione e i blog sono diventati sempre più strumento di approfondimento.

Per esempio, ultimamente non si può negare che soprattutto i "foodblogger" si siano moltiplicati in modo incontrollabile.  
Ma gli ecoblogger che fine hanno fatto??? Noi ci siamo ancora e stiamo continuando a cambiare il mondo – un pizzico di autostima ogni tanto ci vuole –!!!

Prova ne ho avuta, durante questa settimana con l'intervista che vi ho annunciato nel post precedente.
Sono stata contattata dalla giornalista Viviana Tanzariello – che colgo l'opportunità di ringraziare ancora – per Radio Elle/Canale 7 Puglia, proprio per raccontare la mia esperienza da ecoblogger!
Davvero non me lo sarei aspettato, visto che non scrivo più al ritmo di un tempo. Eppure il mio messaggio continua ad arrivare ovunque e di questo ne sono felicissima!

L'esperienza radiofonica mi ha messo inizialmente in agitazione – ricordavo ancora l'emozione dell'intervista per la trasmissione "Impatto Ambientale" sulla tv romagnola Icaro –, ma con Viviana, speaker del programma, si è instaurato subito un bel dialogo e mi ha fatto sentire a casa – quale posto migliore di una radio pugliese? –.  Abbiamo parlato delle origini del blog, della mia settimana a zero rifiuti, delle difficoltà nel fare la raccolta differenziata e dei consigli da proporre agli ascoltatori.
Alla fine i minuti non mi bastavano più, avrei voluto raccontare molte più cose ma i tempi erano ben precisi.
Spero che qualcuno mi abbia ascoltato e abbia fatto tesoro di ciò che ho raccontato. 
L'intervista si inseriva in una rubrica L'"Eco-Quiz Differenziamoci", svolta in collaborazione con la Regione Puglia, mirata a promuovere la consapevolezza dell'importanza della raccolta differenziata. Se avete modo, potete sempre seguire la trasmissione – anche in streaming – tutti i giorni dal lunedì al venerdì alle 11.05 su Radio Elle e Canale 7. Presto ci saranno altre interviste di "colleghi/e" ecoblogger che racconteranno la loro esperienza!

Non ho finito ancora di parlare a proposito di ecoblogger...

Lo scorso weekend sono stata a Fa' la cosa giusta 2015 a Milano. Ormai quasi tutti conoscete, la fiera nazionale del consumo critico e degli stili di vita sostenibili. Io mancavo lì dal 2011. È stato lì che ho incontrato per la prima volta gli ecoblogger Riccardo di Wutel.net e Lisa Casali di Ecocucina!

Così anche in quest'ultima edizione ho avuto nuovamente il piacere di incontrarli. Riccardo è ormai un amico, dopo che si è prestato a raggiungermi in Romagna per trasformare abilmente la mia bici in e-bike; ora lavora a tempo pieno nel campo del risparmio energetico e si districa fra kit per il fotovoltaico, domotica ecologica e nuovissimi sistemi di illuminazione a LED!

Sono, poi, riuscita a salutare la sempre super-attivissima Lisa, che nel frattempo ha scritto diversi libri ed è divenuta super-richiesta da canali televisivi e testate giornalistiche per la sua capacità ineguagliabile di saper trasformare gli scarti di cibo in piatti da gourmet. Anche stavolta ha tenuto uno showcooking sull'essiccazione degli scarti di cucina che è stato seguito non da me, in quel momento impegnata per lavoro, ma dal mio compagno, lo chef di casa. Alla fine della dimostrazione si è fermata ad autografarci con dedica il suo libro Ecocucina che ritengo il più completo e utile fra i suoi scritti. È stata molto gentile e si è ricordata anche di me che la seguo e la cito da anni sul Dandaworld blog.

A questi due incontri fantastici devo aggiungere l'incontro con nuove ecoblogger.

Nell'ambito della conferenza sulla cosmesi ecologica che ho seguito a metà giornata, durante il sabato, ho conosciuto innanzitutto la bravissima relatrice Nadia Tadioli, che sul suo blog Diario ecoBeauty è sempre attenta a captare le novità nel campo della bio-ecocosmesi, esplorandole a fondo tramite le sue conoscenze tecniche nel settore, anche attraverso un punto di vista positivamente critico e piacevole da leggere. Trovate gli aggiornamenti su di lei nel mio blogroll.

Sempre durante lo stesso sabato – purtroppo l'unico giorno della mia visita a Fa' la cosa giusta – ho avuto modo di assistere ai laboratori di Neli, foodblogger del Neli's Raw Food, che ha presentato due ricette di cucina crudista con semplici ingredienti ma con tecniche di grande effetto. Piatti veloci e facili da realizzare per chi ama ottenere il massimo dalla verdura in termini di energia e proprietà nutrizionali. E garantisco che il gusto c'era tutto!

Dulcis in fundo, ancora due ecoblogger in gamba, che hanno tenuto più di un laboratorio su detergenza e cosmesi fai da te: Marta Albè e Francesca Piccoletti, redattrici di GreenMe autrici rispettivamente dei libri "La mia casa ecopulita" e "Questo lo faccio io!", entrambi editi da Feltrinelli/Gribaudo e con una grafica davvero simpatica e ben fatta. In realtà dei laboratori che volevamo seguire siamo riusciti a seguirne solo uno, quello di Francesca sulla cosmesi fai-da-te per lui e per lei, ma Marta le ha fatto da spalla, così abbiamo avuto modo di conoscerle entrambe. Abbiamo assistito a come fare degli ottimi scrub per il viso e per il corpo e un dopobarba in poco tempo, con ingredienti naturali facilmente reperibili.

Peccato, poi, non aver potuto assistere ai workshop del giorno dopo con Kia di Equo, eco e vegan che sta ampliando il suo ventaglio di proposte per ridurre sempre di più la propria impronta ecologica.

Insomma, che dire, altro che eclissi! Gli ecoblogger sono vivi e vegeti!
Io che dal 2007 scrivo su questo blog e non mi sono stancata ancora di parlare di me e di ecologia, sono davvero felice e soddisfatta, perché qualcosa nel mio piccolo sono riuscita a fare e oggi si parla di ambiente sempre di più.
Restate sintonizzati perché presto, come promesso in radio, ci saranno nuovi argomenti per questo blog! Per il momento è tutto e buona giornata dell'acqua a tutti!!!


Many times I heard people say that blogs have been eclipsed –to stay on with the recent eclipse– from social networks. Yet, in my opinion, is not so true! Despite on one hand there is the lack of comments, on the other there is always also someone who reads the blog! Indeed, the same social networks have become a vehicle for sharing and blogs have become more and more an instrument of deepening. 
For example, lately you can't deny that especially "foodbloggers" are growing on uncontrollably.
But what happened to ecobloggers??? We are still here, continuing to change the world –yes, with a bit of self-esteem sometimes– !!!

I had the proof during this week with the interview I announced in the previous post.
I was contacted by the journalist Viviana Tanzariello – I take the opportunity to thank again– for Radio Elle / Channel 7 Puglia, just to tell my ecoblogger experience!
Really I couldn't believe it, because my posts are even more rare. So I am very happy that my message continues to get anywhere!

The radio experience made me initially anxious –I still remember the thrill of the interview for the program "Environmental Impact" on Icaro tv Romagna– but with Viviana –also speaker of the program– immediately established with me a good dialogue and made me to feel at home –what a better place than being on air in Puglia?–. We talked about the origins of the blog, my Zero Waste Week, the difficulties in recycling and then suggestions for the listeners. At the end, the minutes were not enough for me anymore, I wanted to tell many more things but the schedule was very precise.
I hope someone has listened to me and made the most of what I said.
The interview was part of a section, the "Eco-Quiz Differenziamoci", carried out in collaboration with the Puglia region, aimed at promoting awareness of the importance of recycling. If you can, follow the program –even in streaming– every day from Monday to Friday at 11.05 on  Radio Elle and Channel 7 (Italian language only). Soon there will be other interviews to "ecoblogger colleagues" who will talk about their experience!
I have not finished yet to talk about ecobloggers ...

Last weekend I went to Fa' La Cosa Giusta 2015 in Milan. All of you almost know the Italian fair of critical consumption and sustainable lifestyles. I was missing it since 2011. It was there that I met for the first time the ecobloggers Riccardo of Wutel.net blog and Lisa Casali of Ecocucina blog!

So even in this last edition I had the pleasure to meet them again. Riccardo is now a friend, after he came in Romagna to turn deftly my bike into e-bike; now he works full time in the industry of energy saving and unravels among photovoltaic kits, home automation systems, ecological and brand new LED lighting!

We were then able to greet the always very active Lisa, who has already written several books and has become super-request by television channels and newspapers for its incomparable ability to turn food scraps into gourmet meals. Again she held a showcooking about drying kitchen waste. I couldn't follow it for work, but my home-chef, my partner, did it. At the end of the demonstration she stopped to sign her book "Ecocucina" which I consider the most comprehensive and useful among her writings. She was very kind and also recognised me, following and quoting her from years on the Dandaworld blog.

I have to add the meeting with new ecobloggers after these two fantastic ones.

As part of the conference on ecological cosmetics I followed in mid-day during that Saturday, I met first the talented Nadia Tadioli lecturer, who on her EcoBeauty Diary blog is always careful to capture the news about organic and ecological cosmetics. Through her technical know-how in the field, she explore cosmetics, including her personal positively critical point of view, which is enjoyable to read. Find updates about her in my blogroll.

Also during the same Saturday –unfortunately the only day I was at Fa' la Cosa Giusta– I was able to attend the workshop of Neli, foodblogger of Neli's Raw Food, which presented two recipes of raw food with simple ingredients but with great effect techniques. Quick and easy meals to implement for those who like to get the most out of vegetables in terms of energy and nutritional properties. And I guarantee about the taste!

Last but not least, two more smart ecoblogger, who held more than a workshop of DIY detergents and cosmetics: Marta Albè and Francesca Piccoletti, editors of GreenMe, authors respectively of the books "La mia casa ecopulita" (tr. My Green-Clean House) and "Questo lo faccio io" (tr. I Do This Myself!), both published by Feltrinelli / Gribaudo and with a really nice and well done graphic design. Actually among all the workshops we were able to follow only one, that one of Francesca on do-it-yourself cosmetics for men and women, but Marta made her right-hand woman, so we got to know them both. We saw how to do some good scrubs for face and body and an aftershave in a short time, with easily available natural ingredients.

Then too bad not being able to attend the workshop of the next day with Kia of Equo, eco e vegan blog that is expanding its range of proposals to further reduce our ecological footprints.

Well, what to say, no eclipse! The ecoblogger are still alive and well! 
Writing this blog since 2007 and being not yet tired of talking about me and ecology, I'm really happy and satisfied, because something in my small way I did, and today we hear to talk about the environment more and more.

La mia prima volta… / My first time…

Non è che avete frainteso? Ieri è stata la mia prima volta, la mia prima esperienza con la… macchina da cucire!!!
Sì, ed è stato molto divertente, soprattutto perché mi sono cimentata in un workshop di riutilizzo!
Ciò che mi ha trascinato in questa bella impresa è stato il travolgente entusiasmo creativo di ReeDoHub, una cooperativa fondata a Rimini nel 2012, che “promuove progetti di moda e design sostenibili e autoprodotti, con un lavoro che è sia del cervello sia delle mani, un lavoro che è valore e un bisogno esistenziale” (vedi anche questo mio vecchio post).
Have you misunderstood? Sure! Yesterday was my first time, my first experience with the sewing machine...!
Yes, and it was great fun, especially because I ventured into a workshop for re-use!
What dragged me into this great challenge was the overwhelming enthusiasm of creative ReeDoHub, a cooperative founded in Rimini in 2012, which “promotes projects for sustainable and self-produced fashion and design, with a work that is both by brain and hands, a work that is value and existential need” (see also this my old post).
 

Questi sono i due risultati che sono usciti fuori dalle mie mani. Ancora adesso sono incredula. Sì, ok, non sono perfetti, però è tanto per una come me che a mala pena sapeva cucire a mano qualche bottone o improvvisare qualche “abito” per mascherarsi… Quelli che vedete nelle due foto sono un cuscino da viaggio e un portaborraccia/portaposate, ricavati da un mio vecchio pantalone usurato.
These are the two results that have come out of my hands. Even now I’m still incredulous. Yes, ok , they are not perfect, but it is so much for someone like me who barely knew some how to sew button by hand or improvise some “dress” to mask... The ones you see in the two photos are a travel pillow and a bottle/cutlery holder, taken from one of my old worn pants.

L’idea meravigliosa di questo laboratorio di sartoria creativa è stata sviluppata da ReeDo – e gestita alla grande dalla super-creativa Cristiana Curreli – nell’ambito della Fiera del Vintage di Forlì, un evento che si è tenuto lo scorso weekend e che ha richiamato tantissimi visitatori. Un plauso all’organizzazione che ha assicurato non solo la presenza di stand molto interessanti, ma anche allestimenti in tema e l’avvicendarsi di più di un evento interno, fra cui musica dal vivo d’annata, concorsi fashion, workshop, per l’appunto, e sfilate di abiti rigorosamente vintage o – come la stessa ReeDo ha proposto – di rivisitazione di tessuti usati o scartati per creazioni davvero spettacolari.
The idea of this wonderful creative dressmaking workshop was developed by ReeDo – and managed by the great super creative Cristiana Curreli – as part of the Vintage Fair in Forlì, an event that was held last weekend and drew many visitors. A praise to the organization that ensured not only the presence of very interesting stands, but also a theme-based scenario, and more of an internal event, including live music vintage , fashion competitions, workshops – precisely – and parades of strictly vintage clothing or – as the same ReeDo proposed – the reuse of used or discarded fabrics for truly spectacular creations.

Ma torniamo a me: come mi sono comportata alle prese con la macchina da cucire? Inibita, forse dapprima dalla difficoltà ad inserire il filo per imbastire nella cruna dell’ago – eppure ci vedo bene! –, l’approccio è stato come avvicinarsi ad un UFO, proprio un oggetto non-identificato!!! Di come si usa la macchina da cucire ne avevo solo un vago ricordo di quando da piccola assistevo ai lavori che faceva mia nonna. Ora, la parte più difficile è stato memorizzare il percorso che deve fare il filo dalla bobina all’ago – che fra l’altro, mi hanno detto, essere differente da macchina a macchina – poi però è andato più o meno tutto liscio e io ci ho preso gusto, tanto che da realizzare un solo oggetto ne ho fatti due!
Devo dire che cucire a macchina è quasi rilassante e poi mi apre un mondo di possibilità che prima dovevo contenere per la mia inabilità nel cucito. Insomma quasi quasi ci faccio un pensierino…
Il mio compagno che ha “dovuto” sorbirsi tre ore di osservazione del workshop – ma secondo me si è divertito pure lui – ha già affermato di aver trovato il regalo da farmi a Natale! ;)
But coming back to me, what was the way I behaved with the sewing machine? Inhibited, perhaps first by difficulty inserting the basting thread through the needle eye – and yet I see clearly! –, the approach was like approaching a UFO, just an unidentified object! Of how to use the sewing machine I had only a vague record of when as a child I witnessed the work that my grandmother did. The hardest part was to fix in mind the path the thread had to do from the spool to the needle – which among other things, they said, it’s different from machine to machine – but then it went more or less smoothly and I enjoyed it, so that to aim to sew two object, not a single one!
I must say that sewing machine is almost relaxing and then it opened a world of possibilities that before I had to hold due to my disability in sewing. So I’m very nearly to do a little thought about buying it...
My partner – who “had to” put up with three hours of observation of the workshop, but I think he enjoyed it as well – has already claimed to have found the gift from me for Christmas! ;)

Ci vuole una certa faccia... / It takes a certain face ...

Già, ci vuole proprio una bella faccia tosta!
No, non preoccupatevi, stavolta non ce l’ho con nessuno.
Lo dico a me stessa che, pur non riuscendo a portare avanti in maniera costante il mio blog, mi sono presa due bellissimi impegni alla luce del sole e sotto gli occhi di tutta Italia...

No, do not worry, this time I will not complain about anyone.
I say it to myself. While I’m not being able to go on steadily writing on my blog, I made two beautiful commitments under the sunshine and the eyes of all Italy ... 

Uno è la Settimana Europea per la Riduzione dei Rifiuti.
One is the European Week for Waste Reduction. 

L’altro è all'interno dell'iniziativa “Facce Energetiche, il Testimonial sei tu!”.
The other one is for the initiative “Faces of Energy, the Testimonial is You!” 

L’immancabile primo appuntamento, che ormai per me è al terzo anno, si svolgerà da sabato 19 a domenica 27 di questo mese. Insomma, ci siamo!
Non mi sentivo di riproporre un’altra settimana a zero rifiuti.
Ma avevo bisogno di impegnarmi in qualcosa di più grande, qualcosa che però non durerà solo una settimana, ma da questa settimana in poi!
The inevitable first date – which for me is in its third year by now – will take place from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 this month. Well, here we go!
I wouldn't repeat another zero waste week.
But I needed to engage myself in something bigger, something that will not last a week, but from this week onwards! 

Come ho già scritto, aderendo personalmente all’iniziativa sul sito, 

“offrirò alle persone che mi conoscono e quelle che seguono il mio blog la possibilità di incontrarle e spiegare di persona come potranno migliorare la propria raccolta differenziata, portando la mia diretta esperienza. Inoltre, aderirò personalmente al programma di Porta la Sporta, contattando, se possibile, le realtà locali della distribuzione per chiedere la riduzione degli imballaggi.” 

As I wrote by joining personally the initiative on the site, 

“I’ll offer the chance to meet me in person to people who know me and those who follow my blog, in order to explain how they can improve their recycling, bringing my direct experience. In addition , I will adhere personally to the program of “Porta la Sporta”, contacting, if possible, the local retailers to ask for the reduction of packaging.” 

Questo perché molte persone mi chiedono in continuazione informazioni sul riciclo dei rifiuti e mi mostrano tutte le loro difficoltà o perplessità. Io, forte della mia esperienza, in tanti anni ho accumulato un bagaglio di nozioni e materiale che voglio mettere a disposizione di tutti!
This is because many people go on asking me about recycling and show me all their problems or concerns about it. I, strong in my experience, during many years accumulated a wealth of knowledge and I want to make this material available to everyone! 

Insomma eccomi a voi, mi metto nelle vostre mani!
Mi metto a vostra disposizione per spiegarvi per filo e per segno come fare una raccolta differenziata a cuor leggero e soprattutto come fare meno rifiuti!

Ma passiamo al secondo impegno, nato dall'ultima passeggiata in quel di Ecomondo, la Fiera del Recupero di Materia ed Energia e dello Sviluppo Sostenibile che quest'anno è arrivata alla quindicesima edizione.
But passing to the second commitment, it was born since the last walk in the Ecomondo, the International Trade Fair of Material & Energy Recovery and Sustainable Development, which this year has reached its fifteenth edition. 

Anche di questo vorrei parlarvi più nel dettaglio e non in questo post. Però vi anticipo che io e Irish ci siamo fatti immortalare come testimonial di una campagna molto interessante, che coinvolge i cittadini delle città dell’Emilia Romagna in prima persona, chiedendo loro di attuare un proposito in materia di risparmio energetico e sostenibilità ambientale.
Così, dopo aver scritto i nostri buoni propositi su dei moduli, ci siamo prestati per lanciare il nostro messaggio attraverso una fotografia che verrà pubblicata prossimamente sul sito di ErmesAmbiente, andando a completare la corolla dei buoni propositi già lanciati in altre città nello scorso ottobre.
About this, I would give you more detail but not in this post. But I can anticipate that Irish and me were taken in a photo as the face of a very interesting campaign, involving in person the citizens of the city in the Emilia Romagna region. It ask them to implement a purpose relating to energy saving and environmental sustainability.
So, after writing our good intentions on a module, we provided to launch our message through a photograph that will be published soon on the site of ErmesAmbiente, going to complete the corolla of other citizens’ good intentions already launched last October. 
E cosa abbiamo proposto? Lo scoprirete molto presto!
And what did we propose? You’ll find out very soon!

Fa' La Cosa Giusta… in Cucina!!! / Do the Right Thing... in the kitchen!!!

Come promesso un po' di tempo fa, lascio questo post a Irish, il mio compagno, che già conoscete come il "cuoco di casa" e che ha avuto piacere di scrivere questa recensione sul laboratorio di "eco-cucina" a cui abbiamo partecipato durante il sabato in fiera a Milano.
Voglio ringraziare personalmente la fantastica Lisa Casali, autrice del blog Ecocucina.org e co-autrice assieme a Tommaso Fara del libro "La cucina a impatto (quasi) zero", per avermi concesso di pubblicare le foto del laboratorio nello slideshow che vedete. Le loro ricette sono ormai di casa qui a casa Dandaworld, consigliatissime per evitare gli sprechi in cucina!!! ;)
As I promised a while ago, I leave this post to Irish, my companion, you already know as "the home chef", and who had the pleasure to write this report about the "eco-kitchen" laboratory, to which we took part during the saturday spent in fair at Milan.

"Lo scorso sabato 26 Marzo siamo finalmente riusciti ad andare a Milano per vedere la fiera 'Fa La Cosa Giusta', dopo che negli anni scorsi per diversi motivi avevamo sempre dovuto rinunciare… ed è stata veramente una bellissima esperienza per la tanta gente che ha partecipato, per le persone incontrate, per le tante realtà più o meno conosciute che nel loro piccolo stanno cercando di portare avanti uno stile di vita diverso con un maggior riguardo verso l’ambiente, un minor spreco delle risorse, un miglior utilizzo dell’energia, e non solo. Una rivoluzione che inevitabilmente, prima o poi, dovrà coinvolgere sempre più persone, altrimenti il futuro sarà sempre più difficile, se non impossibile.
Certamente una sola giornata è stata troppo poco, nonostante la fiera abbia occupato soltanto due padiglioni, ma le iniziative, gli incontri, le realtà da conoscere erano così tante che sarebbe stato necessario avere più tempo a disposizione. Ma questa prima esperienza, seppure con i minuti contati e uno sguardo costante all’orologio, è stata arricchita dalla conoscenza diretta con persone incontrate soltanto 'virtualmente' via internet. Una di queste è sicuramente Lisa Casali (autrice del food-blog www.ecocucina.org) conosciuta attraverso un laboratorio di cucina che aveva lo scopo di realizzare delle portate utilizzando quelli che vengono considerati gli “scarti”: bucce, torsoli, foglie di ortaggi, frutta e verdura in generale. Sicuramente da appassionato di cucina è stata una bella esperienza, così come avere anche la possibilità di sperimentare (direttamente con gli chef Lisa e Tommaso, che ci hanno tenuto a precisare di essere chef per passione e non per professione) un diverso modo di cucinare e di utilizzare tutte le parti dei frutti, degli ortaggi e delle verdure. Eravamo in tanti a seguire questo laboratorio, ma è stato lo stesso molto divertente. Ci siamo così divertiti a preparare delle crocchette utilizzando le foglie esterne dei carciofi e i gambi, e dei flan utilizzando le parti dei gambi degli asparagi che solitamente si scartano. Inoltre, abbiamo anche realizzato una mousse utilizzando le parti di scarto del cavolfiore. I risultati sono stati davvero ottimi e alla fine tutti abbiamo assaggiato le nostre stesse 'creazioni culinarie'…
Avevo avuto modo di conoscere l’utilizzo degli 'scarti' in cucina leggendo il libro 'Avanzi Popolo', che consiglio a tutti, ma devo dire che il cucinare insieme è sempre molto più piacevole e divertente.
Nella stessa occasione ho anche comprato il libro 'La cucina a impatto (quasi) zero' scritto da Lisa Canali e Tommaso Fara nella quale sono raccolte tantissime ricette nelle quali sono utilizzati tanti elementi che normalmente finiscono nel bidone dell’umido, o nella compostiera o peggio ancora nell’indifferenziato. In questi ultimi giorni non ho resistito e ne ho preparate due: carbonara al porro e come dessert delle coppette con pera, yogurt e biscotti… ottime!!!"

"Last Saturday 26th March we finally get to go in Milan to visit the fair 'Do The Right Thing', after many past years in which we hadn’t the chance to go for various reasons... and it was really a wonderful experience seeing so many people participating, meeting people. Wonderful was to know the many more or less known realities that in their small world are trying to support a different lifestyle with more regard toward environment, less waste of resources, better use of energy, and so on. A revolution that inevitably, sooner or later, must involve more people, otherwise the future will be increasingly difficult, if not impossible.
Of course one day was too little, despite the fair occupied only two pavilions, but initiatives, meetings and realities were so many to make you aware that you needed more time. But this first experience, albeit with the minutes counted and a constant look at the clock, has been enriched by meeting directly some people we previously met only 'virtually' on the web. One of them is definitely Lisa Casali – author of the food-blog www.ecocucina.org – , known through a cooking workshop which aimed to build capacities of using what are normally considered 'waste': skins, stalks, leaves of fruit and vegetables in general. Surely for my cooking passion was a good experience, also for the chance to experiment – directly with the chefs Lisa and Tommaso, who underlined that they are chefs for passion, not for job – a different way to cook and use all parts of fruits and vegetables. There were many people to follow this workshop, but it was funny the same.
It was so funny to prepare croquettes using the outer leaves and stems of artichokes, and flans using parts of the asparagus stalks that are usually discarded. In addition, we also made a mousse using scrap pieces of cauliflower. The results were really good and in the end we all tasted our own 'culinary creations'...
I got to know the use of “waste” in the kitchen reading the book 'Avanzi Popolo', which I recommend to everyone, but I have to say that cooking together is always very pleasant and enjoyable.
At the same time I also bought the book '(Almost) Impact-Zero Cooking' written by Lisa and Tommaso Fara who collected many recipes which are used in many items that usually end in the brown bin, or in the compost or worse in the unrecyclable waste bin. In the recent days I could not resist and I have prepared two of the many recipes: a carbonara pasta with leeks and as dessert cups of pear, yogurt and biscuits... very good!"

Che bello fare “La Cosa Giusta”! / What a joy to do “The Right Thing”!

È passata una settimana ma sono ancora carica come un pannello fotovoltaico in una giornata di pieno sole, come quella di oggi!
Questa è proprio la sensazione che si prova andando a visitare “Fa’ La Cosa Giusta” e per me è stata la prima volta!!!
Questa “fiera” – ma è più corretto dire “festa” – dell’eco-sostenibilità è arrivata quest’anno alla sua settima edizione, ma il trend delle visite, da quanto dicono coloro che la seguono ogni anno, è sempre più in ascesa!
Ed effettivamente i padiglioni 2 e 4 di Fieramilanocity erano letteralmente gremiti di gente! Difficile dire se persone curiose o interessate, ma io voglio credere che la maggior parte delle persone fossero finalmente richiamati dall’istinto di vivere una vita più sostenibile, più sana e più rispettosa dell’ambiente. Vedere tutte quelle persone mi ha fatto un effetto iper-adrenalinico!
A week is passed but I’m still charged as a PV panel in a sunny day like today!
This is precisely what you can feel going to visit “Fa’ La Cosa Giusta” [“Do the Right Thing”] and for me it was the first time!
This “fair” – but it is more correct to say “festival” – on eco-sustainability has reached its seventh edition this year, but the trend of visits – like those who follow it every year say – is increasingly on the rise!
And indeed halls 2 and 4 at Fieramilanocity were literally packed with people! Hard to say whether curious or concerned people, but I want to believe that most were finally called by the instinct to live a healthier and more environmentally friendly life. To see all those people gave me lots of adrenaline!

Incitata più volte dalle mie amicizie nel mondo dei blog, quest’anno mi sono finalmente decisa ad andarci. Convinto il mio moroso con la possibilità di partecipare ad un laboratorio di “cucina ad impatto (quasi) zero” – sapete tutti che Irish è appassionato di cucina! – abbiamo pensato che no, non potevamo andarci in macchina. Spaventati dalle tariffe esagerate delle ferrovie dello stato, abbiamo optato per un meno caro, ma anche meno comodo autobus, che sarebbe passato a prenderci alle 4 di notte dal casello autostradale di Rimini.
Induced several times by my friends in the blogs world, this year I finally decided to go there. After convinced by my boyfriend with the opportunity to participate in a workshop of “(Almost) Impact Zero-Kitchen” – you all know that Irish is passionate about cooking! – we thought that no, we couldn’t go by car. Scared by exaggerated tariffs of the state railways, we opted for a cheaper but less comfortable bus, which would be passed at 4 am to take us near the motorway from Rimini.

Beh, sul momento di attendere l’autobus – e l’abbiamo atteso per più di 40 minuti – abbiamo pensato di essere un po’ folli. Abbiamo visto l’aurora sorgere nel cielo e poi abbiamo attraversato assonnati sul bus la pianura padana, piena di campagne popolate dalle specie più svariate di uccelli, da fattorie – curiosissimo vedere una mucca infilarsi da sola in un deposito di balle enormi di fieno per fare colazione! – da numerosissimi impianti fotovoltaici e da, purtroppo, anche numerosissime fabbriche puzzolenti…
Well, while we were waiting for the bus – and we waited along for more than 40 minutes – we thought to be a bit crazy. We saw the dawn rising in the sky and then, sleepy on the bus, we passed through the Po valley, full of countryside populated by various species of birds, full of farms –curious to see a cow slipping by alone in a huge warehouse with bales of hay for breakfast! – , full of many PV systems and, unfortunately, full of many stinking factories...

Ma una volta arrivati nel cuore di Milano abbiamo preso il metrò con una sensazione stranissima di dejavù, ormai disabituati da tre anni a viaggiare sottoterra… però che comodità la metropolitana!
Il tempo di una sosta per la colazione, increduli davanti al “Colosseo” milanese – come Totò e Peppino – e poi dritti alla fiera, in mezzo ad una folla che noi non potevamo credere andasse nella stessa nostra direzione! Eravamo così tanto increduli che abbiamo fatto un enorme giro per conto nostro, sbagliando strada. Infine eccoci all’ingresso!
But once in the heart of Milan we took the subway with a strange feeling of dejavu, now unaccustomed in three years to travel underground… however, what a comfort the underground!
The time to stop for breakfast in disbelief in front of the "Colosseum" of Milan – as the movie of “Totò, Peppino and the Malafemmina” – and then straight to the fair, in the middle a crowd that we could not believe was going in the same direction! We were so incredulous that we had a great ride on our behalf, taking the wrong road. Finally we arrived!

Seguendo il percorso ci siamo ritrovati nel bel mezzo del padiglione 2. E adesso da dove si fa il giro? Scelto un percorso più o meno casuale, abbiamo cominciato a girare, strabuzzando gli occhi per qualsiasi stand incontrassimo: stand dedicati alle eco-mamme, stand dedicati ai piccini, con numerosi laboratori didattici orientati al riutilizzo e alla creatività. Libri dappertutto, ecologici, per lo più, ovviamente, ma soprattutto interessantissimi! Io mi sono dovuta mantenere adeguatamente a distanza, per non farmi prendere dalla foga di comprare. A casa ho ancora un’intera libreria che aspetta di essere degnata di una lettura!
E poi artigianato di tutti i tipi: eco-borse, eco-gioielli, accessori costruiti dai carcerati. Enormi poi le zone dedicate all’ecologia in casa: dalla pulizia – immancabili i detergenti alla spina! – ai cosmetici, all’abitare sostenibile. In questa zona le proposte per rendere la propria casa più ecologica e per il risparmio energetico ed idrico sono state numerossissime. A guardarle ti vien voglia di rivoluzionare la tua casa e di dire basta agli sprechi!
Following the path we found ourselves in the middle of Hall 2. Now, where to go? Chosen a way random, we started walking, screwing up our eyes to any stand: some dedicated to eco-moms, some for children, with a number of educational workshops aimed at reuse and creativity. Books everywhere, mostly environmentally friendly, of course, but especially interesting! I had to maintain me at an adequate distance, for not letting me being taken by the rush to buy. At home I have even a whole library waiting to be worth a read!
And crafts of all kinds: eco-bags, eco-jewelry, accessories crafted by prisoners. Then huge areas dedicated to ecology at home: from cleaning – with the inevitable detergents on tap! – To cosmetics, to sustainable living. In this area the proposals for making homes more environmentally friendly, then for water and energy saving and were so many! Looking at them you cannot resist to revolutionize your home and put a stop to waste!

A proposito di acqua, c’è stata una piazza interamente dedicata a questa preziosissima risorsa, con i banchetti per il referendum del prossimo giugno – da ricordare di votare sì per mantenere pubblico questo dono della natura –. Una gran bella idea è stata quella di distribuire acqua del rubinetto rinfrescata o frizzante gratis, grazie alla presenza della “Casa dell’Acqua”. Così per tutta la fiera non si sono viste bottigliette d’acqua minerale a riempire i bidoni della raccolta differenziata. Qui, infatti, i rifiuti sono stati accuratamente divisi in bidoni diversi e ho visto io stessa con i miei occhi gli operatori dividere con i guanti i rifiuti di chi distrattamente ha scambiato un bidone per un altro!
Speaking of water, there was a square dedicated to this invaluable resource, with the banquet for the referendum in June – remember to vote yes to keep public this gift of Nature –. A very good idea was to distribute natural water or sparkling water refreshed on tap for free, thanks to the “House of Water”. So along all the fair we haven’t seen bottles of mineral water to fill the recycle bins. Here, in fact, waste was carefully divided in different bins and I saw myself with my own eyes the operators separating waste with gloves, due to who casually exchanged a bin for another!

Poi io e Irish siamo stati attratti anche dalla presenza di alcuni stand dedicati alla mobilità sostenibile… lui ha buttato un occhio curioso agli scooter elettrici, io alle bici… da elettrificare! Mumble mumble, il mio cervello sta tramando di andare al lavoro in bici. Vedrò se riuscirò a compiere l’impresa!
Then Irish and me were attracted by the presence of some stands dedicated to sustainable mobility... he threw a curious eye on electric scooters, me on bikes... to be electrified! Mumble mumble, my brain is plotting to go to work by bike. I’ll see if I can do it!

Sempre nel padiglione 2 – quello poi, secondo noi, più interessante, un grande spazio è stato dedicato alla moda ecologica. Ma sì, quella realizzata in tessuti naturali oppure realizzati da scarti di fabbrica o vestiti usati! Mamma mia ragazze! C’era da spendere un patrimonio!!! Eh, sì, anche perché gli stilisti dell’eco-fashion sono un po’ cari… bisogna dirlo! Sì, è vero, ne val la pena, però...
Insomma io son dovuta tornare a casa un po’ a bocca asciutta… peccato!
Also in Hall 2 – the more interesting, in our opinion, a large space was devoted to eco-fashion. Yes, that one made of natural fabrics or made from factory scraps or used clothes! Mamma mia girls! It was to spend a fortune! Eh, ‘cause eco-fashion designers are a little expensive... I need to say it! Yes, it is true, it’s worth, but... In short, I had to go home a bit with a dry mouth... what a pity!

Passando nel padiglione 4, poi, apriti stomaco!!! ☺
Sarà che la mattinata è passata così velocemente… ci siamo ritrovati con una gran fame e nel posto giusto… siamo approdati alla “mens@sana”, una sorta di self-service con un fior fiore di piatti vegani, vegetariani e gluten-free che avrebbero fatto venire l’acquolina al più incallito dei carnivori. Solo per citare alcuni di questi favolosi piatti: sformatino di miglio, felafel di lenticchie, maionese vegana, caserecci di kamut al ragù di seitan, lasagne al ragù vegetariano, riso integrale con radicchio e cipolla, patè di ceci, verza al profumo d’oriente, sformato di broccoli e carote al sesamo e poi giù con una sfilza di dolci a scelta uno più buono dell’altro!
Ovviamente le posate, i piatti e i bicchieri erano completamente biodegradabili e l’acqua era quella del sindaco… a proposito, ma chi aveva detto che l’acqua di Milano è imbevibile?

Perhaps it will be for the morning passed so quickly... we ended up with very hungry and in the right place ... we arrived at the “mens@sana”, a sort of cafeteria with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free meals, that would catch the most hardened carnivores. Just to mention some of these fabulous dishes: millet pudding, lentil falafel, vegan mayonnaise, homemade kamut pasta with seitan sauce, vegetarian lasagna with veg sauce, brown rice with radicchio and onion chickpea pate, scented oriental cabbage, broccoli and carrots pie with sesame seeds and then down with a good choice of very good desserts!
Of course, the cutlery, plates and glasses were completely biodegradable and the water was “that of the city mayor”... by the way, but who said that water is undrinkable in Milan?

Insomma, tra una cosa e l’altra si è fatta quell’ora… sììì quella del laboratorio di cucina!!! Ma non una cucina qualunque, quella della magnifica Lisa Casali, del blog Ecocucina, di cui vi ho già parlato un’altra volta!!! Però qui vi lascio un attimo in suspance… dedicherò un post apposito e non lo scriverò io, ma lo scriverà il mio personale chef di casa, che vi lascerà le sue vivide impressioni.
Basta dirvi che alla fine del laboratorio eravamo euforici e ovviamente le conseguenze si sono già viste… qui sui fornelli di casa nostra!
In short, between one thing and another the time passed... and yeeeah it was the cooking workshop time! But not any cuisine, the one of the magnificent Lisa Casali, of the Ecocucina blog, which I have already spoken here! But here I leave you in suspense... I will devote an appropriate post written by my personal home chef, Irish, that will leave his vivid impressions.
Just to tell you that at the end of the workshop and of course we were elated and we have already seen here the consequences... in the stove of our house!

Alla fine ci mancavano solo due strettissime ore per visitare tutto il padiglione… e per fortuna l’abbiamo fatto a stomaco pieno, perché l’area più vasta era dedicata al cibo eco-sostenibile!
Una quantità impressionante di produttori dell’agricoltura biologica, biodinamica e via dicendo, tra cui abbiamo rivisto anche i produttori del nostro gruppo di acquisto solidale. Che bello sembra di essere un’unica grande famiglia, una comunità col pallino verde!
Ovviamente non mancavano i prodotti del commercio equo-solidale e non mancavano le associazioni di volontariato che si occupano di un’impronta sostenibile anche in quei paesi che normalmente vengono sfruttati per le risorse, lasciando le popolazioni in condizioni invivibili.
At the end there were only two hours to visit the narrow hall... and luckily we did it a full stomach, because the area largest was dedicated to environmentally sustainable food!
An impressive number of organic, biodynamic producers and so on, including the manufacturers we already know of our local exchange group. How nice it seems to be one big family, a community with a green mood!
Of course there were fair trade products and there were also charity associations that deal with sustainable footprint in those countries that are normally exploited for resources, leaving the population in uninhabitable conditions.

Così come, poi, il cibo è un’isola felice per molti, non è stato trascurato anche l’aspetto più piacevole del turismo, ospitando numerosissimi operatori che offrono delle soluzioni per le vacanze responsabili, vacanze rispettose dei luoghi e delle persone, vacanze che lasciano una maggiore consapevolezza nel viaggiatore.
So, how food is a oasis for many, the most pleasing aspect of tourism it was not even neglected, housing many operators who offer solutions for the responsible holidays, respecting places and people. These holidays leave a greater awareness in the traveller.

Cosa posso aver dimenticato di tutto quello che ho visto? Non c’è lo spazio qui per dirvi tutto e soprattutto, “Fa’ La Cosa Giusta” è un’esperienza da vivere, da fare, per l’appunto, e spero di aver fatto venir voglia a voi stessi di provarci il prossimo anno!
Epilogo: io e Irish ci siamo ovviamente soffermati più del possibile, gongolandoci in un’atmosfera quasi surreale – perché surreale è vedere tutte queste belle cose tutte insieme e vedere tutta questa gente interessata! – e attardandoci… abbiamo quasi rischiato di perdere il bus per il ritorno.
Ma alla fine, accaldati per la corsa, saliti sul bus e seduti ai nostri posti ci siamo guardati e ci siamo detti: “Sì, abbiamo fatto la cosa giusta!!!”
What can I have forgotten of everything I saw? Here there is no more space to tell you all and what is most important is that “Do The Right Thing” is an experience to do, precisely. I hope I made you desire to try it yourself next year!
Epilogue: Irish and me stayed obviously as much as possible, gloating in an almost surreal place – it was surreal to see all these beautiful things all together and to see all these interested people! – And lingering... we were almost in danger of losing bus for going back home.
But in the end, hot for the race, we got on the bus, sat down to our places and looked each other saying, “Yes, we did it right!”

Siete tutti pronti per AmbienteFestival?
Bene! La manifestazione riminese, tutta dedicata all'ambiente – quest'anno in particolare alla biodiveristà –, arrivata alla sua seconda edizione, è già partita oggi – qualche giorno fa con qualche anteprima – con un ricchissimo programma di iniziative per tutti, dai piccoli ai grandi, coinvolgendo cittadinanza e visitatori.
Il calendario, che potete consultare qui, si snoda dal 29 ottobre al 7 novembre 2010, accompagnando, quindi, anche la più nota esposizione Ecomondo, che invece si terrà in fiera, sempre a Rimini, dal 3 al 6 novembre 2010.
Are you ready for AmbienteFestival?
Well! The event, all dedicated to environment – this year to the biodiversity – come to the 2nd edition, already started today in Rimini – some days ago with some preview – with a very rich program of initiatives for everone, young, old, citizens and visitors.
The schedule – you can find it here – includes all the days from October 29th to November 7th, contemporary to the more famous Ecomondo, the exhibition that will occurr from 3rd to 6th November, even in Rimini.   

La città di Rimini in questi giorni si trasforma, prende colore e rinnova la sua spiccata inclinazione alla sostenibilità ambientale.
Ci saranno mostre di ogni tipo, botteghe e stand, laboratori, conferenze, presentazioni di libri.
During these days the city of Rimini is changing, take colours and renews its strong interests toward the evironmental sustainability.
There will be exhibitions, green shops, laboratories, conferences and book presentations. 

Anche io parteciperò con Mani Tese ai due laboratori che si terranno al palazzo del Podestà domani 30 ottobre: il primo sarà un laboratorio dedicato al riciclo delle nostre preferite t-shirt, che saranno trasformate in meravigliose borsine; nel secondo faremo divertire i più piccini a creare con ritagli di stoffe, lana, bottoni e altro il loro personale mostro di Halloween...
Sarà divertente e non tarderò a farvi un resoconto della giornata.

I will participate too with Mani Tese to the two laboratories that will be played in the Podestà palace tomorrow, 30th October: the first laboratory will be dedicated to the recycle of our favourite t-shirts. They will be transformed in wonderful bags. In the second one we will have fun with the childern creating their own halloween monster with scraps of fabrics, wool, buttons and other kinds of materials. 
We will enjoy it and I'll tell you soon.

A colpi di weekend ecologici... / One green weekend by another

Brevemente, perché solo così posso darvi in tempo queste informazioni: in Romagna tra domani e dopodomani si svolgeranno un'altra serie di eventi ecologici a cui vi invito fortemente a partecipare, se siete in zona.
Briefly, because I can give you this information in time only in this way: between tomorrow and the day after, in Romagna there will be another series of green events I ask you strongly to participate, if you're in the area.

Il primo è il consueto appuntamento autunnale con Ecomia, la Festa dell'Economia solidale e responsabile, che questa volta si svolgerà in due sedi diverse ed in due differenti weekend, il prossimo a Riccione il 18 e 19 settembre, e poi il 2 ottobre a Rimini, in concomitanza con AmbienteFestival, la kermesse che durerà per circa un mese e ci accompagnerà all'evento finale di Ecomondo a novembre 2010.
The first is the usual autumn event with Ecomia, the Fair of Solidarity and Responsibility Economy, which this time will take place in two different locations and during two different weekends, the next in Riccione, 18 and 19 September, and then 2nd October in Rimini, in conjunction with AmbienteFestival, the event which will last for about a month and will accompany us to the final event of Ecomondo in November 2010.

Questo weekend il ricco programma della festa, che potete consultare qui, prevede anche due laboratori in collaborazione con Mani Tese Rimini, associazione di cui faccio parte come sapete. Proporremo il laboratorio "C'è compost per te" (sabato, ore 16) a cura della sottoscritta, che vi farà comprendere più da vicino l'importanza e la facilità del compostaggio domestico e il laboratorio sull'uso dei pannolini lavabili (domenica, ore 16), a cura di mamma Alessia, che farà una dimostrazione pratica di come si usano i pannolini lavabili, dei vantaggi che questi comportano, dando molte dritte a chi ne intraprenderà l'uso per i propri piccoli.
Un'occasione fantastica che potrà anche tornare utile per conoscerci.
This weekend the full program of the festival – you can give a look here – also includes two workshops in collaboration with Mani Tese Rimini the association to which I belong as you know. We will propose the laboratory "There's compost for you" (Saturday, 4 p.m.) by me – who will make you understand more closely the importance and ease of home composting – and the laboratory about the use of washable nappies (Sunday, at 4 p.m.), by the mom Alessia, who will demonstrate the practice on how to use washable nappies, their benefits, giving many tips to those who undertake to use them for their children.
A fantastic opportunity that will also be helpful to meet.

Oltre a questo grande appuntamento, se non siete proprio nella provincia di Rimini, ma più vicini a Cesena, non dovete assolutamente perdervi la Festa del Riciclo, che è arrivata alla terza edizione. L'evento è a cura di Magazzino Parallelo, patrocinato dal comune di Cesena e sostenuto dal M.I.Z. (Movimento Impatto Zero). Anche qui laboratori, musica, mercato, mostre ed incontri...
Io non potrò esserci, per ovvi motivi, ma mi piacerebbe che qualcuno di voi ci fosse, così potremo scambiarci le nostre impressioni.
In addition to this great event, if you're not in the province of Rimini, but closer to Cesena, you should not miss the Recycling Day, which is in its third edition. The event is by Parallel Storage, sponsored and supported by the town of Cesena and M.I.Z. (Zero Impact Movement). Here there will be laboratories, music, market, exhibitions and meetings too...
I can not be there, for obvious reasons, but I'd like to hear someone of you that will be there, so we can share our impressions.

Un colorato sabato pomeriggio a Ravenna… / A coloured Saturday afternoon in Ravenna

Ravenna è una bellissima città d’arte. Per chi di voi non vi è mai stato, consiglio una visita.
Io l’ho visitata per la prima volta una decina di anni fa, col mio moroso, partendo da Rimini in treno con le bici e percorrendola tutta fino ad arrivare a S. Apollinare in Classe.
Magnifici edifici intrisi di storia, ma anche di sapienza artistica.
Mai avrei pensato di tornarvi però con in mente una meta diversa.
Ravenna is a beautiful city of art. If you hadn’t still the chance to visit it, plan it!
I visited it the first time ten years ago, with my boyfriend, leaving from Rimini by train with bikes and exploring it all, arriving to St. Apollinare in Classe.
Magnificent buildings full of history and wisdom in art.
But I’d never thought to go back there for another purpose.

Sarà stata forse l’arte stessa ad aver infuso negli abitanti di Ravenna un certo fermento che li ha spinti ad organizzare un evento del tutto insolito ed entusiasmante!
Sto parlando della prima Fiera del Baratto e del Riuso, che si è tenuta sabato 24 Aprile ed è stata organizzata dalla cooperativa sociale Villaggio Globale, da CittAttiva Ravenna (servizio di mediazione dei Conflitti e di Comunità del Comune di Ravenna), da RicicloOfficina (progetto di educazione ambientale sul recupero delle vecchie biciclette) e dal Progetto Hundertwasser.
Perhaps art itself is the cause of a certain ferment in inhabitants of Ravenna. They were able to organise an unusual and exciting event!
I’m talking about the first Swap and Reuse Fair, occurred on Saturday 24th April. It was organised by the associations Villaggio Globale, CittAttiva Ravenna – which community mediation service is all over the municipality of Ravenna –, then RicicloOfficina – a project to reuse old bicycles – and Hundertwasser Project.

In tre, da Rimini, in treno, abbiamo raggiunto in pochissimo tempo Ravenna, ritrovandoci nel piazzale antistante la stazione, entro i quali giardini si sarebbe tenuta la manifestazione.
La giornata non è stata molto favorevole, anzi, per tutto il giorno un clima grigio e autunnale ha imperversato su tutto il territorio, rovinandoci un po’ l’umore e compromettendo gli spazi dedicati a questa fiera all’aperto. Ma il tempo non è stato d’ostacolo ai ravennati che nel pomeriggio hanno letteralmente invaso i portici sotto i quali erano allestiti i banchetti.
We were in three and arrived in less than a hour in Ravenna by train. We walked out the railway station to a little park where the event had to occur.
Weather wasn’t so good and all the day an autumnal grey sky with rain put down us and compromised the open spaces for the fair. But the bad weather wasn’t enough to stop visitors that literally invaded the porch under which benches were prepared.

Sapete come funziona il baratto, no? Tu porti qualcosa che non usi più e chiedi una cosa in cambio. In particolare l’organizzazione ha coinvolto cittadini e scuole, offrendo dei “gettoni” a chiunque portasse qualcosa di usato. Questi gettoni sarebbero stati poi utili per “acquistare” qualcosa nella fiera o per partecipare ai laboratori messi a disposizione dai volontari.
Do you know how swap works? You give something that don’t use anymore and ask for something in change. There, in particular, the organization involved citizens and students, offering chips to everyone who brought stuff to swap. With these chips you would have “purchased” something in the fair or participated to laboratories prepared by volunteers.

Purtroppo noi ci siamo recati un po’ impreparati, sprovvisti di cose da barattare, per cui l’unica possibilità che avevamo era solo quella di… guardare.
E abbiamo quindi fatto uno scontento giro dei banchetti, tra quelli dell’usato (abiti, accessori, giocattoli, libri e oggetti per la casa), quelli dedicati ai laboratori e quelli degli espositori di artigianato realizzato in materiale riciclato.
But we went there without anything to swap and the one thing to do was… to look only.
And unhappy we did a tour around the benches, those ones of second hand things (clothes, accessories, toys, books and home tools) and those dedicated to labs and artisans able to create with recycled materials.

Bisogna ammettere che per quanto riguarda il concetto del baratto, noi italiani non siamo ancora molto abituati. Non è la prima volta che mi capita di veder barattare e noto che la qualità degli oggetti è generalmente un po’ scadente. Probabilmente non siamo abituati all’idea che quello che portiamo dovrebbe avere pari valore e qualità di ciò che cerchiamo!
Forse abbiamo bisogno di rifletterci ancora su.
I must admit that as regards the concept of swap, we Italians aren’t so prepared. It’s not the first time I see swapping and the quality of things is generally low. Perhaps we don’t get used to the idea that all we give must have the same quality of what we need!
Maybe we still have to think about it.

Ma intanto, tutto il contorno è stato fantastico!
Ben quattro laboratori dedicati al riciclo creativo: un laboratorio sulla fabbricazione di un gufetto in stoffa riciclata, lana e bottoni; un laboratorio dedicato alla fabbricazione della carta riciclata fai-da-te; un laboratorio sulla costruzione di una sportina fatta di quotidiani, cartone e fili di lana; e un ultimo laboratorio dedicato alla personalizzazione di sportine in tela.
È stato qui che delle brave signore ci hanno gentilmente concesso due gettoni per partecipare a questi laboratori. Io ovviamente ho assistito a quello della carta riciclata! :)
But all what was around was fantastic!
There were four recycling-art laboratories: one about sewing a fabric owl with wool and buttons, one about the making of the DIY recycled paper, one on the making of a “newspaper bag” with paper, carton and wool, and another one on the customisation of fabric bags.
Here two kind ladies gave us two chips to participate to these labs. Of course I followed the DIY recycled paper! :)

Oltre ai laboratori per i più piccoli erano offerti dei giochi fatti con materiale riciclato come il tris con cerchi in gomma e bastoncini di legno, la dama con le pedine fatte coi tappi dei barattoli e varie altre cose divertenti.
Completavano il “ciclo del riciclo” numerosi artigiani creativi con le loro opere riciclate, ammirevoli per il semplice fatto che erano lì solo ad esporre.
Ne cito alcuni: “Ecoarte by Mimo” che propongono cornici in carta di riviste riciclata, gioielli fatti con i tappi delle bottiglie e altre colorate creazioni; “I Poverelli” che realizzano dei meravigliosi gioielli con le vecchie posate; “Keymera” che realizzano abiti ed accessori con tessuti riciclati, in particolare col jeans.
Poi non potevano mancare gli oggetti provenienti dal Sud del Mondo, presentati dalla cooperativa Villaggio Globale: le borse prodotte con le camere d’aria e i copertoni del progetto colombiano Cyclus; le “Fish bags” e i bellissimi oggetti in carta riciclata, tagliata e piegata da Mai Handicraft in Vietnam; le borse in carta riciclata e garza di Mcc Prokritee del Bangladesh; e altri manufatti in plastica, in carta, riciclate tutti del commercio equo-solidale.
Labs apart, there were some games for kids, realized with recycled materials as tic-tac-toe with rubber circles and wooden crosses or checkers with jars lids and so on.
The “recycling cycle” was completed by the various craftsmen who showed their works made with recycled material and the fact that they only “showed” – and didn’t sell – was admirable.
I can list some: “Ecoarte by Mimo” – who show recycled paper frames, recycled corks jewels and other coloured creations – than “I Poverelli”– jewels made from old tableware –, “Keymera”– who create clothes and accessories from recycled fabrics, especially from jeans –.
Then there was also objects from the South of the world, showed by the association Villaggio Globale: bags from recycled tyres by the Colombian project called Cyclus, the “Fish bags” and the beautiful object made from recycled paper, cut and folded by Mai Handicraft in Vietnam, bags made in recycled paper and gauze by Mcc Prokritee from Bangladesh, and other recycled paper and plastic creations, all from fair trade.

Non si poteva trascurare la presenza di alcune realtà come Emergency, Legambiente, Educaid, il Forum Italiano dei Movimenti per l’Acqua (in raccolta firme per il referendum sull’acqua pubblica), e iniziative particolari come il progetto “Salva il tappo di sughero” della cooperativa Artimestieri, il famoso progetto “Rifiuto con affetto”e l’asta delle biciclette recuperate dai ragazzi del liceo artistico e dagli scout Ravenna 2 per il progetto “RicicloOfficina”. Sicuramente ho dimenticato di menzionare qualcosa.
I can’t miss to tell of the existence of Emergency, and other organisations like Legambiente, Educaid, the Italian Forum for Water Movements (collecting signatures for the referendum about the saving of public water) and popular initiatives like “Save the cork” by the cooperative Artimestieri, the famous project “Rifiuto con affetto” and the auction of bicycles saved from students and scouts of Ravenna for the project “RicicloOfficina”. Surely I forgot to say something.

Però, al di là di tutto questo, a causa degli orari serali dei treni, non ho potuto assistere a una delle cose a cui tenevo molto: la sfilata di moda finale delle Strazzaecuci, fantastiche ragazze che sono approdate anche su questo blog e che ne hanno uno tutto loro per mostrare al mondo ciò di cui sono capaci con abiti usati e tessuti recuperati. Sono geniali, molto creative e anche molto simpatiche. Abbiamo fatto due chiacchiere insieme ma è stato un peccato non aver potuto vedere i loro modelli dal vivo. Spero di avere nuove occasioni!
But, apart all these things, due to the train evening timetable, I couldn’t stay at one thing I desired to see: the fashion show of Strazzaecuci, fantastic girls who popped over this blog and have their own blog, where they show to the world all they are able to do with second hand and saved clothes and fabrics. They are geniuses and genial at the same time. We chatted for a while but it was a pity to be unable to see their models live. I hope to have new chances!

Insomma, il pomeriggio grigio dello scorso sabato si è trasformato in un arcobaleno di colori e suoni in cui ha preso parte tantissima gente.
Sicuramente un’esperienza da moltiplicare!
To sum up, the last Saturday afternoon from grey became a rainbow of colours and sounds where a lot of people took part.
Surely an experience to multiply!
