Famiglie a Rifiuti Zero d’Italia, unitevi!!! / Italian Zero Waste families, let's join together!!!

Lo scorso weekend è stato un po’ speciale perché sono stata di nuovo nella mia amata Puglia!
Ho avuto modo di rivedere la mia mamma, la mia sorellina e qualche cara amica. E ho approfittato per fare qualche giro nella mia città natale, Canosa, e nei dintorni, spingendomi fino a Bisceglie, dove ho potuto vedere per la prima volta in così tanti anni, la cattedrale romanica e il magnifico Dolmen "della Chianca"!
Last weekend was a bit special because I was back in my beloved Puglia!
I got to see my mom, my sister and a few close friends. And I took the opportunity to do a few laps in my hometown, Canosa, and around, bringing myself to Bisceglie, where for the first time in so many years I could see the Romanesque cathedral and the magnificent Dolmen called "della Chianca"!

Ogni volta tornare nella mia terra è un’emozione. Qualche volta, però, rovinata dalla vista di rifiuti abbandonati per le strade di città e di campagna…
Un vero peccato, perché la Puglia è una terra bellissima e in questo periodo si colora inverosimilmente del giallo oro delle margherite e del viola delle malve selvatiche e del rosso dei papaveri! La bellezza dei monumenti, le distese di ulivi, l’azzurro del mare… ma… conterranei miei, perché continuate a riversare i rifiuti in ogni angolo di questo lembo di terra così bello???
Whenever I return to my homeland I feel a strong emotion. Sometimes, however, it is spoiled by the sight of waste abandoned by the roads of town and country...
A pity, because Puglia is a beautiful land, and at this time is coloured by the golden yellow daisies and the purple hollyhocks and the wild red poppies! The beauty of the monuments, the olive trees, the blue of the sea... but... my fellows, why do you continue to dump waste in every corner of this strip of so beautiful land???

I cittadini sono avvertiti! Non gettare i rifiuti per strada!!!

Allora non posso che proseguire questo mio accorato appello con raccontarvi di un’iniziativa che è anche, volendo, una proposta.
So I can continue this heartfelt plea to tell you about an initiative that is also, if desired, a proposal.

Proprio dal 1° maggio 2015 – non stavo nella pelle dal dirvelo – grazie, alla carissima amica blogger Chiara del blog “Il bilancio del bidone”, sono stata coinvolta nel progetto “Famiglie a Rifiuti Zero” organizzato da un gruppo di persone fra il GAS e la sede di Legambiente Lamone di Faenza.
Si tratta di una sorta di “gioco” che ha l’obiettivo di diventare una vera e propria routine quotidiana e in questi giorni gli iscritti al suo gruppo su Facebook si stanno allargando a macchia d’olio, arrivando in tutte le zone d’Italia!

Just from the 1st of May 2015 – I couldn't wait to tell you – thanks, to the dear friend blogger Chiara's of the "Il bilancio del bidone" blog, I was involved in the project "Zero Waste Families" organized by a group of people between the Ethical Purchasing Group and the headquarters of Legambiente Lamone at Faenza.
It is a sort of challenge which has the goal of becoming a real daily routine and these days the members of its group on Facebook are spreading like wildfire, reaching all the areas of Italy!

Avere uno stile di vita sostenibile, avere coscienza dei propri rifiuti e consumi è una cosa ormai da cui non si può più prescindere, per i danni che abbiamo causato al nostro pianeta, ma è anche qualcosa di entusiasmante e costruttivo, che ti fa scoprire ogni giorno qualcosa di nuovo, persone nuove, proprie virtù nascoste, come il saper riparare, autoprodurre, risparmiare, ecc.!
Have a sustainable way of life, be aware of our own waste and consumption is now a thing from which we cannot be longer apart, for the damage we have caused to our planet, but it's also something exciting and constructive, which makes you discover each day something new, new people, your hidden virtues, such as knowing how to repair, self-produce, save, etc.!

Allora perché no? Prima di partire per la Puglia avevamo svuotato tutti i bidoni della raccolta differenziata e indifferenziata, pesati (per avere la tara) e pronti per la sfida. Ora è già una settimana che il progetto è partito e noi siamo felicemente “in gara”, non si vince null’altro che la soddisfazione di aver fatto qualcosa di buono per se stessi, per gli altri e per l’intero pianeta!

So why not? Before leaving for Puglia we emptied all the bins of recycling and unrecycled waste, weighed them (for tare) and be ready for the challenge. Now it is already a week since the project started and we are happily "in the race", knowing that we would not win nothing but the satisfaction of having done something good for ourselves, for other people and the whole planet!Zero Waste Families of Italy, let's join together!!! :)

L’elettricità è dietro l’angolo / Electricity is around the corner

Strano come nessuno ancora nella mia zona abbia notato qualcosa di nuovo e di insolito, specialmente in un periodo come questo, l’inverno, quando la zona a mare di Rimini è poco movimentata, poco frequentata, con l’orizzonte del mare ancora grigio e la spiaggia di sabbia umida praticamente deserta.
Quando me ne sono accorta io ero sull’autobus, diretta verso il centro: sono stata diversi minuti con un’espressione un po’ inebetita e dentro di me un sorriso enorme.
Funny how no one yet in my area have noticed something new and unusual, especially in a time like this, the winter, when the sea area of Rimini is not busy, not crowded, with the horizon of the sea still gray and the beach with wet sand almost deserted.
When I realized it I was on the bus, towards the center: for several minutes my face had a stupid look but a huge smile was inside me.

Eccole, sono due belle colonnine per la ricarica dei veicoli elettrici, nuove di zecca!!!
Quindi qualcosa sta cambiando per davvero! Ci si augura solo che non facciano la stessa fine dei distributori del latte…
Forse sta a noi renderle utili. Quindi se in futuro dovessi pensare all’acquisto di una nuova auto, non avrò più scuse, né io, né voi cari i miei nord-riminesi!!!

So something is changing for real! I hope that they won’t end like the fresh milk distributors...
Perhaps it is for us to make them useful. So if in the future I’ll think about buying a new car, I have no more excuses, nor I, nor you, my dear inhabitants of the North Rimini!

Per fare un albero ci vuole un… post! / To plant a tree, it takes a… post!

Ci sono tante cose che ho da dirvi, e che in tutto questo tempo non sono riuscita a fermare sulle pagine del blog. Ma per ripartire bene, vorrei cominciare con una bella una notizia. 

Forse a molti di voi sembrerà ovvia, sì, perché quelli che hanno un blog o un sito, hanno già aderito all'iniziativa di Doveconviene.it. 

E forse vi eravate chiesti: perché Danda ancora non fa nulla per ridurre l'impatto ecologico del suo blog?

There are many things I have to say, and that I couldn’t put on the pages of the blog all this time. But to start well, I would start with a good news.

Perhaps it will seem obvious to many of you, yes, because those who have a blog or a site have already joined the initiative of Doveconviene.it.

And maybe you wondered: why doesn’t Danda still do anything to reduce the ecological impact of her blog?

La mia risposta sta nel fatto che solitamente sono un po' restia ad iniziative di cui non posso controllare l'esito da vicino. Sono un po' il San Tommaso della rete, abbiate pazienza, ma la rete è un bellissimo strumento che però a volte, se usato male, danneggia se stessi e gli altri. 

Però ora che mi sono sufficientemente documentata sia sulla rete che via mail, sarò lieta di raccontarvi.

My answer is that usually I am a bit reluctant to initiatives of which I can’t control closely the outcome. Be patient, I am like the St. Thomas of the network, because it is a wonderful tool but sometimes it damages yourself and others if misused.

But now that I am sufficiently documented both on the network and via email, I will be happy to tell you.

In rete ci sono certamente altre iniziative simili, però, quella di Doveconviene.it è certamente interessante, perché mira, non solo a ridurre l’impronta ecologica provocata dall’anidride carbonica emessa dai server che fanno funzionare i nostri blog, ma punta anche alla riduzione del consumo di carta per l'uso promozionale/commerciale.

On the net there are certainly other similar initiatives, however, the one from Doveconviene.it is certainly interesting, because it aims not only to reduce the carbon footprint from the servers where our blogs run, but also points to reduction of paper consumption for promotional / commercial use.

Se guardiamo il primo aspetto, dando un’occhiata al sito di DoveConviene si può scoprire quanta CO2 emette un sito in media ogni volta che viene visitato. È una cosa che spesso non ci sembra così scontata, pensando alla rete come uno strumento più ecologico della carta…

If we look at the first aspect, by looking at Doveconviene website you can find out how much CO2 a website creates on average every time it is visited. It is something that often does not seem so obvious, considering the network as more environmentally friendly than paper...

Ma se andiamo a guardare anche l’impronta ecologica della stampa, la situazione è anche peggiore. Questo aspetto, poi, è sicuramente qualcosa che mi riguarda da vicino, lavorando nel settore della grafica. 

A dire il vero, più volte mi chiedo durante una giornata di lavoro, qual è l’impatto di tanti fogli stampati che spesso nemmeno si contano. Io faccio di tutto per ridurre gli sprechi e riciclare la carta stampata in eccesso, sia a casa che in ufficio, ma rimane comunque evidente che il consumo di carta sia in genere sovradimensionato rispetto alle esigenze di un individuo o di un’azienda.

E non è facile arrivare ad una sostenibile gestione dei consumi!

But if we also look at the footprint of the press, the situation is even worse. Then this is certainly something that concerns me closely, working as graphic designer.

In fact, many times I ask myself during a day's work, what is the impact of many printed sheets that often does not even count. I do everything possible to reduce waste and recycle paper printed in excess, both at home and at work, but it remains clear that the consumption of paper is usually oversized to meet the needs of an individual or a company.

It is not easy to get to a sustainable energy management!

A volte io stessa, sebbene adori il mio lavoro, penso che il mio futuro professionale sarebbe più etico se continuassi a dedicarmi, sì alla grafica, ma a quella applicata al digitale piuttosto che alla carta stampata. 

Sometimes I myself – although I love my job – think that my future career would be more ethical if I continue to devote to the graphics, but that applied to digital rather than printed.

Ogni giorno dalle stampanti dei nostri uffici escono chissà quante migliaia di fogli di carta, per non parlare delle tonnellate di carta che si sprecano dalle cartiere, alle tipografie, dalle fiere agli eventi promozionali, fino a quelle che ci troviamo spesso ad eliminare dalla cassetta della posta sull'uscio di casa o dagli imballi di ciò che acquistiamo.

Every day from our office printers out who knows how many thousands of sheets of paper, not to mention the tons of paper that are wasted by paper mills, printing industry, fairs, promotional events… and that of junk mail we must often remove from the mail box or the packaging of what we buy.

Quindi l’iniziativa di Doveconviene e del loro partner tedesco I Plant a Tree è davvero ammirevole.

Per ogni blog che aderisce all’iniziativa, parlandone, viene piantato un albero in una foresta della Germania.

Quindi spero davvero che da oggi anche il mio blog diventi un piccolo seme di una futura quercia che andrà a donare ossigeno e ad assorbire anidride carbonica per ben 50 anni!

So the initiative from Doveconviene and their German partner I Plant a Tree is truly admirable.

For every blog that joined the initiative telling of it, a tree is planted in a forest in Germany.

So I really hope that my blog now also become a small grain of a future oak that will give oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide for 50 years!
