Quest'estate ce la ricorderemo, è stata all'insegna del sole... e del solare...

Questo è uno stabilimento che si trova a Margherita di Savoia, ristrutturato di recente. I proprietari hanno ben pensato di utilizzare un pannello solare per la doccia calda!

Risparmio energetico a casa... cominciamo a pensarci! / Energy saving at home... let's think about!

Ancora riecheggiano nella mia testa le parole che Grillo ha urlato alla platea lo scorso 7 febbraio durante il suo spettacolo a Rimini. Mi sono vista riflessa nelle sue parole con tutte le pratiche sostenibili da lui elencate a cui io cerco di sottoporre costantemente le mie giornate. Qualcosa però ancora mi manca. Il risparmio energetico nella casa in cui vivo. Uno dei tanti concetti da lui espressi è più o meno questo: “le nostre case devono diventare ognuna una centrale energetica e tutte devono essere messe in rete…”. Dobbiamo cominciare da qualche parte.
There’s still an echo in my head, the words that Grillo yelled to the audience on February 7 during his show in Rimini. I saw me reflected in his words with all the sustainable practices he listed that I try to have everyday. But there’s still something I am missing. Energy savings in the house where I live. One of the many concepts he cast is approximately this: “Our homes have to become each similar to power stations and all energy must be put into the network...”.
We must start somewhere.

La casa in cui vivo, o meglio viviamo in due, è un buco nero per quanto riguarda l’energia. Costruita fra gli anni ’60-’70, forse doveva rimanere solo una residenza estiva: vecchi infissi in legno nelle camere e saliscendi in alluminio in bagno e cucina, tutti a vetro semplice. Gli spifferi non sono pochi e persino negli spigoli di giunzione si vede qualche fessura. Le pareti non sono coibentate. E il nostro appartamento affaccia per tre lati su una casa a due piani. Siamo a piano terra, con quel che ne consegue di umidità che risale dai muri nei giorni di pioggia intensa. Il gas lo paghiamo salato, pur accendendo la caldaia d’inverno solo poche ore al giorno. Accidenti!
E no questo non va bene (specie per Danda)!
The house in which I live, or better live in two, is a black hole for energy. Built between the years ’60-’70, it maybe was to remain only a home summer: the old wooden casements of the windows in the bedrooms and aluminum casements in the bathroom and kitchen, all with a single glass. The fissures are not few, and even in the corners of junction you can see some cracks. The walls are not insulated. And our apartment looks out on three sides on a house with two floors. We are on the ground floor, with the resulting moisture coming up from the walls in the days of intense rain. We are paying salty the gas, while lighting the boiler in winter only a few hours a day. Damn!
And no, this is bad (especially for Danda)!

Ma un appuntamento che era stato preannunciato molto tempo fa, dal comune di Rimini, è finalmente arrivato ieri sera per noi. In pochi ci siamo presentati all’incontro di quartiere, dove i tecnici del comune sono stati messi a disposizione per informazioni su come applicare le tecnologie per le energie rinnovabili sui nostri edifici. Un conto è leggere dai siti e dai blog tali informazioni, un altro è poter dialogare direttamente con le persone che fanno questo mestiere senza specularci!
Infatti è stato davvero interessante ascoltare gli ingegneri Frisoni e Pasini, l’uno per quanto riguarda il solare termico e gli interventi di bioedilizia, l’altro sul fotovoltaico.
But an appointment that was announced long ago by town of Rimini, has finally arrived last night for us. In a few we presented to the neighborhood meeting, where the technicians of municipality were available for information on how to apply the renewable energy technologies in our buildings. One thing is reading from sites and blogs that information, another one is able to talk directly with people who do this job without profit!
It has been really interesting to listen to the engineers Frisoni and Pasini, one about the solar thermal and interventions of green building, the other about photovoltaics.


Assieme ai pochi partecipanti sono venuti fuori dubbi e problematiche di varia natura: dalle modalità di interventi più consoni agli edifici alle procedure burocratiche da risolvere per la richiesta degli incentivi statali, all’effettivo rendimento degli impianti, alle possibilità di installazione su condomini. L’orizzonte è stato anche ampliato da una panoramica di possibilità assicurative e di finanziamento bancario maggiormente mirati a questo tipo di interventi.
Un peccato che le migliaia di residenti del quartiere 5, quartiere di Rimini nord – che ha una grande estensione, ma non un’altissima densità, almeno al momento – abbiano quasi completamente snobbato questa grande opportunità, promossa in vari modi dallo stesso comune e dai suoi servizi!
In ogni caso io sono del parere che solo chi ha a cuore questi problemi può cominciare a fare da passaparola sperimentandoli sulla propria esperienza.
Along with a few participants, doubts and questions of various kinds have come out: actions for improving buildings, bureaucratic procedures to solve the request of incentives, the actual performance of facilities, possibility of installing in condominiums. The horizon was also expanded by an overview of bank financing and insurance opportunities targeted to this type of interventions.
A pity that the thousands of residents of district 5, the district of Rimini North – which has a great extension, but not high density, at the moment – have almost completely scorned this great opportunity, promoted in various ways by the same municipality and its services!
In any case I am of the opinion that only those who care about these problems can begin to talk, testing by their experience.

Quindi da ora non passerà molto tempo fin quando faremo venire a casa un tecnico per far valutare la possibilità di trasformare la nostra casa in vista del risparmio energetico.
Per prima cosa dobbiamo evitare le perdite di calore e sarà la volta di cambiare o migliorare gli infissi (come un nostro amico ci ha suggerito). Secondo Frisoni i vetri sono dei veri e propri buchi nei nostri muri, dai quali si disperde la maggior parte del calore! Quindi meglio prima tappare i buchi!

According to Frisoni, glasses are real holes in our walls, from which disperses most of the heat! Hence better to plug the holes first!

Come secondo passo, faremo valutare la possibilità di installazione di pannelli solari per il riscaldamento dell’acqua, eventualmente integrandoli con una nuova caldaia a condensazione, con la quale si arriva ad un più alto rendimento per la produzione di calore. Forse sarà anche necessaria l’installazione di valvole termostatiche da apporre ai termosifoni, per regolare durante il giorno la quantità di calore in base alla temperatura della camera.
Queste spese, sommate alla prime, sono ancora soggette a richiesta di incentivi, fortunatamente. Non ne ho mai parlato qui, ma sui vari blog che seguo la vicenda del decreto poi convertito in legge il 28 gennaio 2009 è stata vissuta in maniera particolarmente sofferta. Le premesse erano state pessime ma alla fine però ha prevalso il buon senso…

Tornando al nostro problema, quello che però purtroppo ancora non potremo fare, per motivi tecnici e per la spesa ancora troppo onerosa, è l’installazione del fotovoltaico. Ci siamo resi conto che per installare un impianto che produce da 1 a 3 Kw di picco (unità di misura per gli impianti stessi) serve una quantità di spazio di circa da 8 a 24 mq a famiglia. Non crediamo di avere questo spazio sulla falda est del nostro tetto, soprattutto lasciando spazio al solare termico e agli eventuali impianti per gli altri inquilini. Non lo abbiamo nemmeno nel giardino. Dovremo forse aspettare che la tecnologia si evolvi e convogli più energia in meno superficie. Ma forse allora gli incentivi statali saranno spariti.
Returning to our problem, unfortunately what still we cannot do, for technical reasons and for too onerous costs, is the installation of photovoltaics. We realized that for installing a plant that produces 1 to 3 kW peak (units of measure for the plants themselves) it needs a space of about 8 to 24 square meters per family. We don’t believe to have this space in the East part of our roof, leaving mainly for the solar panels and possible facilities for the other tenants. Not even in the garden. Should we expect that the technology will evolve and convoy more energy in less surface area. But perhaps then the incentives will be gone.


I tecnici vociferano che per il 2012 non avremo più possibilità di un aiuto per questo tipo di interventi migliorativi. Mah. Certo è che, di recente, le modifiche apportate alla finanziaria non incoraggiano l’uso del fotovoltaico, anzi! Sono state complicate le procedure per cui mentre prima chi produceva energia in più poteva attuare un semplice “baratto” con il fornitore di rete, cedendola nel momento di maggior produzione e ricevendola nei momenti di maggior bisogno, da quest’anno vige lo scambio di compravendita, nel quale chi installa un impianto non può sfruttare immediatamente la sua energia ma venderla allo Stato, al prezzo più basso sul mercato e quindi riacquistarla dal fornitore di rete con tutti gli oneri fiscali dovuti. Non mi chiedete di entrare nel dettaglio, ma quello che ho capito è che in teoria l’utente ci mette almeno un anno in più per vedere ammortizzata la spesa iniziale (quindi almeno 10 anni in tutto)! E non solo… in questo modo l’utente che ha il fotovoltaico tende così a consumare più energia nel momento in cui ne produce di più, quindi di giorno, contrariamente a quanto invece si dovrebbe fare, visto che l’Italia di giorno acquista energia dalle altre nazioni. Qualcuno ha obiettato che nel nostro Paese sul fotovoltaico ci si voleva marciare… ma è troppo chiedere che si venga data la possibilità di rendersi almeno autosufficienti, costruendo impianti tarati sugli effettivi consumi?
Nel frattempo in Inghilterra e Australia i governi stanno dando la possibilità di ristrutturazione energetica degli edifici in maniera completamente gratuita! E noi? Come al solito noi Italiani rimaniamo così il fanalino di coda di tutti gli altri Paesi sviluppati che stanno un bel po’ avanti sulle rinnovabili. Per cui chi può inizi a dare una svolta!

Those who install a photovoltaic system cannot immediately use its power but sell it to the State, the lowest price on the market and then buy back from network provider with all the taxes due. Do not ask me to go into detail, but what I realized is that in theory the user put at least one more year to see the amortized initial cost (ie at least 10 years in all)! And this is not all...
so the photovoltaic users increasingly consume more energy when it produces more, then during the day, the contrary to what you should do, given that Italy purchases energy from other nations during the day. Some people argued that in our country someone wanted to take profit from photovoltaics... but do you think it is too much having the opportunity to be at least self-sufficient, building equipment calibrated on actual own consumption?
Meanwhile British and Australian governments are giving possibility of restructuring the energy efficiency of buildings completely free! And how about us? As always in Italy we remain the bottom of all others developed countries on renewable energies. So, if you can start, make the difference!

Ecomia: giorni di festa, divertimento e spunti di riflessione / days of celebration, fun and thoughts.

Nonostante il tempo dello scorso weekend non sia stato entusiasmante, è stato molto bello partecipare alla festa dell’economia solidale e responsabile! Come ho già commentato nel post precedente, per me è stata una grande occasione per conoscere le realtà associative legate all’ambiente nella zona del riminese. Nel mio bagaglio ho riportato a casa non solo prodotti, brochure, libri e idee, ma anche nuovi volti e nuovi sorrisi che mi spingono a continuare con maggior passione la mia dedizione a questo blog.
Despite the weather last weekend was not exciting, it was very beautiful to take part in the celebration of solidarity and responsible economy! As I have already commented in previous posts, for me it was a great opportunity to learn about the associations linked to environment in the area of Rimini. In my bag I brought back to home not only products, brochures, books and ideas, but also new faces and new smiles that lead me to continue with greatest passion my dedication to this blog.

Per quanto mi fossi prefissata di assistere a quasi tutti gli eventi, alcuni di questi, purtroppo, sono a me sfuggiti a causa della mancanza di tempo. Ad Ecomia ho dedicato, quindi i pomeriggi del sabato e della domenica scorsi.
As I was set to attend nearly all events, I couldn’t follow some of these, unfortunately, due to lack of time. I devoted to Ecomia the afternoons of past Saturday and Sunday.

All’ingresso del Palazzo del Podestà a Rimini – fra l’altro un palazzo di notevole pregio storico che spesso ospita manifestazioni – ci hanno accolto due stand.
At the entrance of the Palazzo del Podesta in Rimini – among other things, a palace of major historical value that often hosts events – there were two stands to welcome us.

Il primo adibito alla registrazione, con la quale si poteva avere in omaggio una sportina di tela utile per gli acquisti, e punto informativo sugli eventi e sul gruppo RIGAS, il gruppo d’acquisto solidale della provincia di Rimini, del quale eravamo curiosi di sapere le modalità di partecipazione. Abbiamo avuto finalmente capito come avviene l’iscrizione: si compie sul loro sito internet, naturalmente dopo averne letto e accettato la ‘carta dei criteri’.
Penso che proveremo questa nuova esperienza che permette di fare, in gruppi di persone organizzati, acquisti a prezzi più bassi ma con una qualità maggiore dei prodotti, in genere provenienti da coltivazioni biologiche e controllate, solidali e spesso anche a chilometri zero, con un bassissimo impatto ambientale.

I think we will try this new experience that allows you, in organized groups of people, to buy at lower prices but with a higher quality products, usually derived from organic and controlled crops, fair trade and often at zero kilometres, with a low environmental impact.

Il secondo stand era invece a cura del forum di Rimini Ambiente, rappresentato in questo caso da tre associazioni: l’associazione Rifiuti Zero della provincia di Rimini, l’associazione Basta Merda in Mare e l’Associazione Vegetariana di Rimini. Delle prime due non abbiamo potuto assistere alla presentazione del Dvd “Rianimare la città” che però abbiamo trovato nello stand in omaggio, assieme a numerosi documenti delle attività che svolgono queste due associazioni.
Abbiamo avuto modo di conoscere Sergio, il presidente dell’Ass. Rifiuti Zero, con cui abbiamo condiviso molte delle nostre preoccupazioni sulla situazione attuale. Essendo particolarmente interessata alle attività dell’associazione e mi è stato spiegato che al momento essa è concentrata in un progetto su un nuovo modo di vedere la città, ripensando i piani che prevedono inceneritori e quant’altro possa nuocere alla salute e all’ambiente, in una chiave un po’ più ecologica (vedi blog). In seguito approfondirò la loro conoscenza di sicuro!
The second stand was organized by Rimini Forum of Environment, in this case represented by three associations: the Zero Waste Association in the province of Rimini, the association Stop Shit in Sea and the Vegetarian Association of Rimini. For the first two we weren’t able to attend the presentation of the DVD “revive the city”, but we found it free at the stand, along with many documents of the two associations.
We got to know Sergio, the chairman of the Zero Waste Association, with whom we have shared many of our concerns about current situation. Being particularly interested in the activities of the association and he told me that they are focused in a project on a new way of seeing the city, rethinking plans, involving incinerators and anything that can endanger the health and the environment, in a some green key (See blog). Sure I deepen their knowledge soon!

Poi ci siamo avvicinati alla parte gestita dall’Associazione Vegetariana della zona, di cui abbiamo conosciuto il presidente, il sig. Onide (che è anche vice presidente dell’associazione italiana) che ci ha illustrato i numeri di una sua rivista, ora non più disponibile su carta, e ci ha parlato dei rischi che il consumo di carne porta a livello ambientale, rischi ben più gravi anche di alcuni tipi di inquinamento. Tutte cose che io e Irish P. condividiamo pienamente! Riprenderò in seguito anche questo discorso sul blog.
Then we approached the part managed by Vegetarian Association, which we have known the president, Mr. Onide (who is also vice president of the Italian one) that showed us the issues of his magazine, now no longer available on paper, and we spoke of the risks that consumption of meat leads to environmental risks, far more serious even some types of pollution. All things that I and Irish P. fully understand! Later I’ll talk about this on the blog.

Entrati nel palazzo, abbiamo potuto allargare lo sguardo alla grande sala adibita a mostra mercato con tantissimi espositori: i prodotti biologici, alcuni dei quali anche in assaggio, erano tantissimi e provenienti da varie aziende agricole, locali e non. Ci siamo fatti tentare da biscotti al farro, sfogliate di grano, succhi di frutta, conserve… c’erano poi i prodotti del commercio equo e solidale, e anche qua non abbiamo resistito alla cioccolata e ad una buonissima crema spalmabile che poi è andata a condire una piadina-dessert nella nostra seconda serata di sosta ad Ecomia.
Oltre ai prodotti alimentari erano presenti i detersivi ecologici, prodotti erboristici, artigianali e addirittura bancari! Tutto in chiave etica e responsabile, ovviamente e tutti prodotti acquistabili a prezzi più bassi tramite il gruppo GAS.
Non sono mancate le mie incursioni al banco dei libri sul tema, dove ho acquistato il “Breve trattato sulla decrescita serena” di S. Latouche, poi “50 piccole cose da fare per salvare il mondo e risparmiare denaro” di A. Schlumberger, e “La rivoluzione dei dettagli” di Marinella Correggia, bravissima giornalista che abbiamo ascoltato l’ultima sera nel seminario “Cambiare stili di vita: dalla scelta personale all’azione politica”.
Entered in the building, we were able to broaden our gaze to the great hall setted into a exhibition market with many exhibitors: organic products, some of which you could taste, and many were from various farms, local and not. We were groped at cookies, grain crackers, fruit juices, mustards... then there were the products of fair trade, and also here we have not resisted to the chocolate and a very good spreadable cream then we had in to a piadina dessert in our
the second evening of Ecomia.
In addition to food were present ecological detergents, herbal products, handicrafts and even bank products! All in a ethical and responsible key of course, and all products sold lower prices through group GAS.
I am not miss my raids on the books bench about the subject, where I purchased the "Short Treaty on the Serene Decline " by St. Latouche, then "50 Little Things to be Done to Save the World and Save Money" by A. Schlumberger, and "The Revolution of Details" by Marinella Correggia, a very clever journalist that we heard last night in the workshop “Changing lifestyles: from personal choice to political action”.

La cosa però più bella, come ho già commentato precedentemente, è aver rivisto le amiche e gli amici di ManiTese che avevano allestito uno stand di oggetti ed abiti usati. Abbiamo stretto l’amicizia ancora di più e ho conosciuto la mitica Claudia che mi ha dato la notizia dell’evento. Spero di rivedere presto lei, che si è trasferita, come tutti quanti… magari in una bella serata all’Assenzio! ;-) Abbiamo contribuito a riciclare un po’ di oggetti usati acquistando una bella bacheca verde dove mettere tutti i nostri ninnoli, un libro di Roddy Doyle e un set di tovagliette in bambù che ci sono più che utili!
But the most beautiful thing, as I have previously commented, I met friends of ManiTese again who had set up a stand of second hand objects and clothing. We close friendship even more and I met that legendary Claudia that gave me the news of the event. I hope soon to see her – she left Italy – as everyone ... maybe in a beautiful evening to Assenzio club! ;-) We contributed to recycle some used objects by buying a beautiful green dashboard where to put all our little gadgets, a book by Roddy Doyle and a set of bamboo mats which are more than useful!

Per la cena, entrambe le serate ci siamo soffermati nell’area ristoro organizzata da Harissa, specializzata nella ristorazione solidale. Con mio sommo gaudio ho notato delle attenzioni che mi hanno fatto molto gongolare! Prima di tutto la distribuzione gratuita dell’acqua a cura del comune di Rimini e di Hera: un punto dotato di “acqua alla spina” liscia, gasata e fredda con tanto di distribuzione di bottiglie in PET riutilizzabili e riciclabili e bicchieri in plastica 100% biodegradabile! Anche il cibo, a metà tra la tradizione romagnola e l’etnico, comprensivo anche di opzione vegetariana, è stato servito con piatti di cartone, posate compostabili in legno, e involucri in PE-HD riciclabile. Ovviamente l’area era attrezzata di tutto punto con nuovissimi bidoni per il riciclo!
For dinner, both evenings we dwelt in the refreshment organized by Harissa, which specializes in solidarity catering. With my greatest joy I have noticed some attentions that made me drive crazy! First of all the free distribution of water by the town of Rimini and Hera, a point with “water on tap”, smooth, sparkling and cold, with a distribution of reusable and recyclable PET bottles and 100% biodegradable plastic cups! Even the food, halfway between tradition of Romagna and ethnic, also including vegetarian options, was served with cardboard dishes, wooden compostable cutlery and PE-HD recyclable casings. Obviously, the area was equipped in every point with new bins for recycling!
Insomma dopo esserci rifocillati bene, ci siamo diretti in piazza Cavour, dove, abbondantemente dopo le 21, hanno suonato i Riciclato Circo Musicale! Grandi! Sono un vulcano di idee musica e divertimento! Ci siamo divertiti tantissimo con la loro musica che spazia un po’ tutti i generi ma li reinventa con suoni generati da strumenti musicali tutti particolari: percussioni fatte di scatole delle mozzarelle, vasi di terracotta, taniche, vassoi, coperchi; strumenti a fiato fatti con tubi ed imbuti, chitarre con un’anima sportiva, e (è davvero il caso di dirlo) chi più ne ha più ne metta! E tutti questi vecchi oggetti… come suonano! I fantastici tre del gruppo coinvolgono, inventano, inscenano sketch e sono veramente molto bravi! La prova è una nutrita schiera di ‘seguaci’ che li rincorrono lungo le tappe dei loro concerti e li sostengono anche ritmicamente suonando con loro un bel sacco di… rifiuti! Veramente qualcosa di incredibile da non perdere! E poi mi è rimasto impresso il loro motto: “ragazzi, ci raccomandiamo, se dovete buttar via qualcosa, non buttatelo… suonatelo”! In seguito dedicherò loro un po’ più di spazio, anche perché ho acquistato i loro due cd che sono perfettamente confezionati in un involucro di cartone!
So after this good refreshment, we were directed to Cavour square, where, after 9 p.m., the Riciclato Circo Musicale played! Great! They’re a volcano of ideas, music and fun! We had enjoyed a lot their music that sweeps all kinds but reinvented them with sounds generated by all special musical instruments: drums made of mozzarella cans, terracotta vases, tanks, trays, lids; wind instruments made of pipes and funnels, guitars with a sport soul, and (it is really to be said) who has more will put more! And all these old objects ... they sound very well! The fantastic trio involve, invent, and staged sketches and they are really very good! The test is a large group of fans chasing them along the stages of their concerts and support them even rhythmically playing with them a lot of beautiful ... waste! Really something incredible and not to lose! And then I was impressed by their motto: "boys, we recommend, if you throw something away, do not throw it... play it! Soon I’ll dedicate them more space, because I bought their two CDs that are perfectly packaged in a cardboard wrapper!


A parte questi aspetti festosi, gustosi e divertenti delle due serate ci sono stati comunque dei momenti di riflessione forse più importanti che ci hanno lasciato un segno e ci hanno aperto gli occhi a nuove strade da percorrere.
Non abbiamo potuto seguire, come avrei voluto, i seminari sul fai da te delle biciclette e sull’orto urbano, tra i tanti che ci sono stati, ma non abbiamo mancato l’appuntamento con il seminario a cura dell’assessore all’ambiente del comune di Rimini sulle fonti rinnovabili e le nuove regole edilizie. Andrea Zanzini, che peraltro in seguito siamo felici di aver conosciuto più da vicino – seguo spesso e commento il suo blog –, ha illustrato efficacemente gli obiettivi raggiunti e quelli da raggiungere da parte del comune, dei costruttori e dei cittadini, in materia di bioedilizia. C’è un progetto ben preciso, che verrà applicato alla città nelle nuove aree, e che potrà essere esteso anche alle ristrutturazioni degli edifici, che consente di utilizzare fonti come il solare, il fotovoltaico e il geotermico. Per poter affrontare queste spese la stessa amministrazione locale viene incontro con un contributo economico. Siamo stati attratti da questo tema perché direttamente interessati alla futura ottimizzazione dei consumi energetici della nostra abitazione, in particolar modo sul solare. Tramite questo seminario abbiamo saputo che potremo essere assistiti da un particolare sportello messo a disposizione del Comune di Rimini, lo “Sportello Generale per l’Energia”. Insomma, risparmiare finalmente si può, anzi si deve!
Apart from these festive, tasty and entertaining aspects of the two evenings there were moments of reflection, perhaps more important, that left me a mark and we have opened our eyes to new ways forward.
We could not follow, as I wanted, seminars about do-it-yourself bikes and urban allotments, included in many who were there, but we have not missed the appointment with the seminar by the environment councillor of the municipality of Rimini about renewable energy sources and new building rules. Andrea Zanzini, which then we are happy to have known more closely – I often follow and comment on his blog – has effectively explained the achieved aims and those to be achieved by the joint manufacturers and citizens in the field of green building. There is a well precise project, which will be applied to the city in new areas, and that will be extended to renovation of buildings, that allows using sources such as solar, photovoltaics and geothermal.
In order to make these renovations, local government is helping with an economic contribution. We were attracted to this topic because this issue directly affected the future optimization of energy consumption in our homes, especially on solar. Through this workshop we learned that we can be
assisted by a particular info point available in the town of Rimini, the "General Info Point for Energy." In short, we can finally save energy, indeed we must!


Le due serate si sono concluse con il seminario sul cambiamento degli stili di vita, dove abbiamo avuto modo di ascoltare le esperienze della coraggiosa Marinella Correggi e il racconto del rappresentante dell’Associazione dei Comuni Virtuosi, comuni italiani che si sono distinti per l’alta percentuale di raccolta differenziata e per altri comportamenti ammirevoli nel campo della tutela ambientale e del risparmio di risorse. Il seminario è stato seguito da un acceso dibattito durato quasi fino alla mezzanotte, dove, le non poche persone rimaste mi hanno fatto sperare che la città sia animata da fermento e volontà di cambiare, con un occhio particolarmente attento all’ambiente!

Both evenings ended with the seminar on changing lifestyles, where we had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of Marinella Correggi and to the story of the representative of the Association of Virtuous Municipalities, Italian municipalities that have distinguished by its high percentage of recycling and other admirable behavior in the environmental protection field and in the saving of resources. The seminar was followed by a lit debate lasted almost until midnight, where the many people still remained made me hope that the city is enlivened by turmoil and willingness to change, with a particularly eye open to the environment!

Appunti di viaggio / My journey diary - 11 Aug 2008

Eccomi alla seconda parte delle vacanze, un secondo viaggio verso l’alta Italia, in Trentino, Val di Non. Non sono sola, questa volta mi accompagna la mia dolce metà, finalmente in ferie. Scappiamo dal caos riminese di ferragosto, alla ricerca di un’oasi di tranquillità, dove possiamo respirare aria buona e fare passeggiate nella natura.
Per caso, quasi, avevamo scelto su internet un B&B a Revò, sul lago di Santa Giustina. Ci ispiravano il nome che richiama un’atmosfera “incantata”, e la certificazione “Ecolabel”. Avevamo deciso di andarci in treno per risparmiare benzina e per sentirci meno oppressi dal movimento degli esodi vacanzieri in autostrada. Così, documentati sui trasporti locali in maniera approfondita tramite web e fatto il biglietto, affrontiamo un viaggio di circa 400 km in Intercity, fino a Trento. Stranamente il treno parte puntualissimo (eh eh, sarà perché deve andare in Germania?) e arriva in orario a destinazione dopo aver attraversato l’intera Pianura Padana e poi essersi inoltrato pian piano tra le montagne. Durante il viaggio, abbiamo avuto modo di vedere numerose campagne dotate di impianto mini-eolico, mentre nelle varie stazioni, fa piacere vedere che le FS hanno adottato la raccolta differenziata, che però risulta quasi del tutto ignorata dai passeggeri.

Intanto il tempo è passato velocemente leggendo e ascoltando musica. A Trento ci aspetta un altro treno, questa volta un collegamento locale su ferrovia elettrica, la Trento-Malè. Quasi tutti i treni sono modernissimi e dotati di aria condizionata e porte che si aprono solo a richiesta. Scendiamo a Cles da dove partono bus per le diverse località, tra cui Revò, ma la gentilissima conduttrice del B&B ci viene a prendere in auto. Appena fatta la sua conoscenza ci rendiamo conto che è una persona squisita e molto cordiale.

Così chiacchierando lungo gli otto km che dividono le due città, la signora ci racconta del suo B&B: la certificazione Ecolabel non è una novità per la sua casa, visto ha già da tempo avuto l’impianto termico a pannelli solari. Ora si sta cercando di dotare gli appartamenti di nuove tecnologie che dovrebbero comportare una certificazione ambientale maggiore, sempre a livello europeo. Effettivamente qui, lanciando i nostri sguardi intorno, notiamo che gli abitanti del Trentino sono molto più attenti all’aspetto del risparmio energetico. Quasi tutte le case hanno sul tetto i pannelli solari! Quasi sempre tre elementi per ogni edificio.
Così parlando di questo e altri argomenti, giunti alla casa che si trova sulle pendici di una collina tra altre residenze e campi di mele, ci viene presentato il nostro appartamento. Ma, visto la nostra curiosità in materia d’ambiente, ci viene concesso un piccolo tour del cantiere di ristrutturazione di una parte della stessa casa. Questa sarà ripensata per trattenere il calore. In pratica è stato studiato un rivestimento esterno che lascerà un’intercapedine riempito di isolante. Così la parete viene ad avere uno spessore di circa 70 cm! Inoltre l’interno sarà completamente rivestito in legno, i pavimenti sopraelevati per permettere il passaggio delle condutture di riscaldamento e impianti vari tra cui la ventilazione naturale (un po’ come nelle ‘domus’ degli antichi romani). In più la nuova parte del B&B avrà una stanza comune con camino dove sarà possibile trascorrere bei momenti condivisi con i padroni di casa e gli altri ospiti.
Beh, dobbiamo ammettere che già con queste premesse siamo invogliati a tornarci, ma quello che più ci lascia incantati (e che ho sorvolato inizialmente di dire) è la stanza dove alloggeremo per questi prossimi cinque giorni: un vero e proprio appartamento, con stanza da letto, soggiorno e angolo cottura, bagno con disimpegno/lavanderia, salottino tv e un soppalco in legno su cui un lettino in più è illuminato dall’alto di un lucernario. Ogni dettaglio è curatissimo, sembra una di quelle case che vedi nelle riviste di arredamento: la tavola è ben apparecchiata, la biancheria ricamata, tutto secondo gusto e toni chiari che esprimono la personalità della padrona di casa. Una persona radiosa che preferisce trattare gli ospiti come tali e non come clienti!
Dopo pochi minuti trascorsi a chiacchierare con lei e aver fatto la conoscenza del marito, ci sentiamo già quasi in compagnia di persone conosciute da sempre!
Al momento di essere lasciati soli ammiriamo l’appartamento increduli e troviamo numerosi depliant e libri da sfogliare per programmare e goderci le prossime giornate. Un piccolo album desta la nostra attenzione. È il libro degli ospiti. All’interno ci sono rime, disegni e pagine di elogi, in particolare per la cura nella colazione, di cui tutti sembrano rimasti entusiasti! Quindi, ci immergiamo nei preparativi dei prossimi giorni in questo nido accogliente sui fianchi delle montagne trentine…

Here’s the second part of holidays, a second trip to the high Italy, Trentino, Val di Non. I am not alone this time, I was accompanied by my mate, finally on vacation. We escape from the chaos of August in Rimini, searching for an oasis of tranquillity, where we can breathe good air and then walk in nature.
By chance, we had chosen on the Internet a B&B in Revò, on Lake Santa Giustina. We was inspired by the name that recalls an ‘enchanted’ atmosphere, and by the ‘Ecolabel’ certification. We decided to go by train to save gasoline and to feel less oppressed by the movement of holidaymakers exoduses on motorways. Thus, documented in depth through web on local transport and with tickets purchased, we face a journey of about 400 km in Intercity, to Trento. Strangely the train leaves in time (eh, eh, will it be because it has to go to Germany?), and arrives at its destination on time after crossing the Po Valley and then going slowly toward the mountains. During the trip, we have seen numerous campaigns with mini-wind power pales, while at the various stations, we are pleased to see that the FS have adopted recycling facilities, but they are almost totally ignored by passengers.
Meanwhile, time has passed quickly reading and listening to music. At Trento we expect another train, this time on a local rail electricity, Trento-Malè. Almost all trains are modern and equipped with air conditioning and doors that open only on request. Our last stop is at Cles from where buses depart for the various localities, including Revò, but the kind master of the B&B is waiting for us there and she gives us a lift by car. Just knowing her, make us realize that she is a delicious and very cordial person.
So chatting along the eight km which divide the two cities, the lady tells us of her B&B: ‘Ecolabel’ certification is not new to her house, that has been provided some times ago with solar panels heating system. Now they're trying to equip the apartments with new technologies that should lead to a greater environmental certification, also a European one. Indeed here, flipping around our eyes, we see that the inhabitants of Trentino are much more attentive to energy saving. Almost all the houses have rooftop solar panels! Often three elements for each building.
So talking about this and other topics, we came to the house that is located on the slopes of a hill between residences and fields of apples, so we are brought to our apartment. But, due to our curiosity about environment, we are guided to a small tour of the restructuring yard of part of the same residence. This will be rethought to retain the heat. In practice a skin has been studied, according to leave a inner space filled with insulation. Thus the wall has a thickness of about 70 cm! In addition, interiors will be completely covered with wood, floors will be raised to allow the passage of heating pipes and various facilities including natural ventilation (like in a ‘domus’ of the ancient Romans). In addition the new part of the B&B will have a common room with fireplace where you can spend beautiful moments shared with the hosts and other guests.
Well, we have to admit that already with this background we are encouraged to return here, but what leaves us more enchanted (and I have flown over initially to say) is the room where we will stay for these next five days: a real apartment, with a bedroom, a living room and a kitchenette, a bathroom with a disengagement / laundry, TV and a sitting room and a wood loft on which a bed enlightened from a skylight. Every detail is well cared for, it seems one of those houses you see in furniture magazines: the table is well set, bed with embroidered linens, all set with taste and clear tones that express the personality of the owner. A radiant person who prefers to treat guests as such guests and not as customers!
After a few minutes chatting with her and having met her husband, we feel in such as a company of people who you have always known!
At the time of being left alone we incredulous admire the apartment and find numerous brochures and books useful to plan and enjoy the next few days. A small album is catching our attention. It is the guestbook. Inside there are rhymes, drawings and pages of praise, particularly for care in breakfast, which everybody seem enthusiastic! Then, we concentrate in preparing next days in this cozy nest on the sides of Trentino mountains …

Appunti di viaggio / My journey diary – 08 Aug 08

Dopo una serata trascorsa fino a tardi con amiche, questa mattina alle 7,30 apro gli occhi accaldata e sono già sveglia. Il sole è già alto e comincia a cuocere il paese.
Quest’anno è un nuovo anno di caldo, un’estate torrida, bollente come non si vedeva da un po’. Entro qualche ora la temperatura si alza e strade, casa e persino i giardini si arroventano. Avrei dovuto aspettarmelo, qui il caldo, in Puglia, è spesso secco, quasi africano.
La giornata passa lenta, per metà chiusa in casa, cercando un’occupazione per non morire di noia davanti al caleidoscopio della tv che trasmette l’inizio dei giochi olimpici cinesi. Si boccheggia: inevitabile cercare un po’ di refrigerio davanti al ventilatore o al condizionatore, acceso per poco e impostato sui 30 gradi. Finisco con lo sdraiarmi sul letto e addormentarmi finché il calore scompare e riappare verso le 17,30. Pechino è ancora là in tv a dare sfoggio di colori, tecnologie e abilità umana, incurante di un clima, anche là, ai limiti della sopportazione.
Solo dopo le 20, tramontato il sole, è possibile uscire di casa. Esco pigramente dopo ancora mezz’ora e attraverso una delle strade principali della città passando davanti ad una vetrina che il mio sguardo sfiora distrattamente. Devo tornare indietro: si vede una stanza illuminata ma quasi vuota salvo che al centro campeggia in bella mostra un grande pannello solare!
Cavolo! Penso: ma perché siamo così stupidi? Se tutti qui avessero i pannelli solari, periodi come il torrido agosto renderebbero molto in energia e calore gratuiti e puliti!!!
Un paese come il nostro, l’Italia, che non investe nell’energia solare è veramente un paese stupido!
Fortunatamente qualcuno se ne sta accorgendo, ma quanti anni ci vorranno perché tutti abbiano il solare a disposizione? Spero che non si arrivi ad averlo quando la temperatura della Terra sarà tale da eliminare la possibilità di sopravvivenza!
Proseguendo nella mia pigra passeggiata vedo affissi dei manifesti sulla premiazione di utenti virtuosi che hanno raggiunto una consistente percentuale di raccolta differenziata, collezionando punti su una tessera e conferendo i rifiuti all’isola ecologica. Premiati addirittura con buoni spesa! Peccato non avere modo di approfondire, di indagare meglio…

Così sta per finire la mia permanenza a Canosa, e in fin dei conti devo ammettere che qualche piccola cosa sta cambiando. Anche dal sesto piano del mio palazzo scorgo che qualche timido pannello solare fa capolino e mi saluta dai tetti delle case! Mi aspetto di ritrovare, la prossima volta un paese sempre più ecologicamente impegnato! Lo saluto nella speranza… e visto che la speranza è di colore verde, spero di trovare il mio paese più verde!

After an evening spent up late with friends, this morning at 7.30 a.m., I open my eyes, weather is hot and I am already waked up. The sun is up yet and it begins to cook the country.
This is a new year of hot, hot summer, boiling as not seen before for a long time. Within a few hours the temperature rises and roads, buildings and even gardens are hot. I had to aspect it: the heat here, in Puglia, is often dry, almost to North African levels.
The day passes slow, half closed in the house. I try employment not to die of boredom seeing the kaleidoscope TV transmitting the start of the Olympics Games in China. Hot takes my breath away: inevitable I try to find to cool a little with the fan or air conditioner switched to low and set on
30 °C. I end to lay down on the bed and sleep until the heat disappears and reappears at 5.30 p.m. Beijing is still there on TV to give off colours, technologies and human skills, unmindful of a climate, even there, off limits of endurance.
Only after 8 p.m., down the sun, you can leave the house. I’m out after half an hour and even through one of the city's main roads I pass in front of a shop window that I see in distract way. I have to go back: I see a room illuminated but almost empty except at the centre a large solar panel stands in a stunning show!
Goodness! I think: why are we so stupid? If all everybody here had solar panels, periods like the torrid August would make a great deal in energy and heat free and clean!
A country like ours, Italy, which invests in solar energy is really a stupid country!
Fortunately someone is noticing it but how many years we have to wait until everyone could have the solar energy available? I hope that we’ll not arrive at the time when the temperature of the Earth will eliminates the possibility of survival!
Continuing in my lazy stroll I see posted some posters on a prize for users who have virtuously reached a substantial percentage of recycling, collecting points on a card and giving waste the ‘ecological island’. Winners are prized with bonus to spend at supermarket! Too bad it is not having way to deepen, to better investigate…

That is about I finish my stay in Canosa, and ultimately I must admit that some small thing is changing. Even from the sixth floor of my flat I see that some timid solar panels come out and say hello to me from the roofs of houses! I expect to find the next time the town increasingly environmentally committed! I leave in hope… and due that hope is green, I hope to find my country more… green!
